  1. Wait, you may be misunderstanding me... I can render to file. But the Image that I set up as a Camera Rotoscope doesn't show up when I render to file. It just render's a black movie.
  2. QuickTime Movie - it's just a draft. Should I try a TGA sequence? Why would that make a difference?
  3. Ok, no, I'm still stuck with this one... I've got the picture rendering in the Quick Render in the Cho window, but it won't render to a file. Any suggestions? Is there something I have to check to get it to render? Thanks!

  5. Ok, onto my next question... I searched the forums but didn't find what I was looking for. I probably just didn't have the right terms.... But now, I want to have Woody walk through a live action scene. He's going to come out from behind something. Scenario: I have a still of the interior of a bar. I want Woody to enter the scene at the back of the shot, entering from the far end of the bar. Therefore ,when he first enters, the bar is blocking the lower part of his body from being scene. Please remind me as to how to set an object in my scene so that it receives a projection map (I think - the camera rotoscope), but yet still has geometry that will block other geometry? Does that make sense? I know I can set something as a shadow catcher only, but then it's geometry becomes invisible instead of rendering as an opaque block. thanks,

  7. Thanks guys. I appreciate all the tips, but I guess I wasn't really clear. I'm setting up my phoneme pose library,and several of the mouth shapes have similar setups - all muscle CP positions. It'd be nice to say, copy "O" to start "U" or "W", but I don't think I can.... However, I think one Mark's suggestions about copying keyframes jogged my brain into figuring out how to reset my 0% pose value. I should just be able to clear that keyframe!   8. Boy, I really wish you could just right click on a pose in the PWS or in the Pose Sliders or in the Relationships Window and select "Duplicate Pose". So many poses have such similar starting points. It sure would be nice to be able to duplicate them easily. Here's a newbe question though. How do I clear out values - restore them to the default position on a pose? I inadvertently set up my pose at 0% instead of 100% and I'd like to get the 0 back to default. Anyone? Anyone??? Bueller??? Anyone???
  9. No... he had too much detail and the particles were killing me! 2 min/frame for that simple little character! Going to take another stab at him today w/ a much simpler approach. I did a quick sketch so I could use it for roto - I created a profile for him... I'll let you know how he turns out.
  10. As far as Woody's concerned... Here's the route I've opted to go with him... Not totally happy with him and the particles take to long to render, but now I've got to still get him rigged set up, and lip-synch animated tonight! It's going to be a long one!

  13. Hey guys, thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll probably go back to the basic face tutorial in the book take it from there. John, I like the material you used on the face - I may have to borrow that from you, but I think I will try putting an array of particle emitters on the top of this model w/ animated velocity values to get the flames varying in heights. I'll keep you posted as it develops. Oh, and Rodney! Nice job on the quick and dirty Woody! I used to be fast like that! You lose a lot when you've been away from this software for like 10 years! thanks again, Tommy
  14. Hi Guys, I've been away from this software too long. I've lost my modeling techniques... I'm looking for a pretty basic, but good head modeling tutorial. Which do you recommend? The model I need to do is a cartoon character - it's basically a "ball" head (no ears, pretty simple features, but fully functional mouth and expressions) - Actually, it's going to be a flaming head (another challenge). I'ts a stick figure that is going to be a character for a wood burning pizza place - like a match stick with a flame for a head. I'd love your recommendations... (BTW, I did not design this character, I just have to build, rig and animate it!)
  15. I've been using a Mac since about 1992 and I didn't know there was a Safe mode either. But someone mentioned it, so I looked it up and it worked!!!! To start your Mac in SAFE BOOT. Shut the machine down, and make sure it's shut down. Press the start button. Immediately AFTER the startup bong, press and hold the shift key - but not before. Hold the shift key until the Apple icon and spinning wheel appear then release it. In 10.2 - 10.6.8, SAFE BOOT will be indicated by a progress bar during the boot process, then a notification that you've booted into SAFE BOOT at the end of the boot process. Very cool. So happy!   16. Hey Guys, SAFE MODE DID IT!!!!! Finally!!!! I really don't know what it was, but when I rebooted into SAFE BOOT and the software finally launched.   17. When I installed it on the other user login, it generated a crash report as soon as it kicked out of the launch. I went through as much of it as I could, but I couldn't understand it. I went ahead and sent it to Apple.
  18. I repaired all permissions... didn't work. I tried installing on a different login - didn't work (However, I didn't uninstall it from my main login before trying that - will try that later) but that didn't work either. Hard drive is checking out fine. This is really perplexing!
  19. Hi Guys, Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have tried an install of v16 - it did the exact same thing. MarkW, I agree that it is more of a "not fully launching" than a crash. I have not yet tried installing on another user account. That's the next thing I'll try. Nor have I tried a Safe Boot, anything with Disk Utiliities, nor looking for a corrupt font. So you guys have given me plenty more to try. I've pasted in the entire master.log file, which is rewritten each time i try launching the software, so it only shows the latest attempt, but it's below if anyone finds it useful in my systems analysis. thanks again guys!   20. No, I don't think so, and I haven't installed any new software within the last month or so - at least not that I can think of. This is really weird, and it really sucks... I think tomorrow may have a trip to the apple store in it. Did anything automatically update? Well, I enabled Font Explorer X to auto launch at startup - but I think that's about it. I've deactivated that. I have no idea what else could have happened. Nothing out of the ordinary. I'm sure I'm overlooking something, but I've no idea what. I do have a Time Machine backup, and I have the date of my last good render - but I'd have no idea what to try to restore from then..

  22. Mine says "Creating" rather than "Building". After it is "Property Bar" but I dont' know what to undo for that. Have you tried insalling and using v16? just reuse your master0.lic file from v17 to run v16 Sorry... mine does that too: ---Loading Texture Plugin : /Applications/Animation Master 17.0/Textures/BBall.atx ---Loading Bitmap for Tool Bars ---Creating Status Bar ---Creating Library Bar That's where it stops every time. I installed 16 and used my 17 license file, but it did the same thing, except there is no log file in that version.
  23. I have no idea about static vs dynamic memory pool. All other apps are running fine. One thing I DID do since it was last running well, was to auto launch FontExplorer X at start up. However, I've already turned that back off and it doesn't fix it. Thanks for the ideas though.
  24. Well, that didn't work either. Tried moving (and hiding) all of the projects I had been working on. I even moved my custom library. Nothing works. This is getting VERY frustrating! I've got a project due in a week (from start to finish) and I can't even launch the software! HELP!!!!
