  1. Here is an update to the Squetch Rig installations and a long overdue update to Squetchy Sam. The main change in the rig is that the toeIK moves the entire foot when rotating instead of just the toe. The installation remains the same, but I decided to put all the instructions in the same post so it's easy to find. Sam has the changes in the rig added, some modeling changes and quite a bit of SmartSkin added to the shoulders...I also had to rebuild the other SmartSkins due to the modeling changes.

     

    If anyone finds a problem, let me know and I'll fix it as quickly as possible.

  2. PCPartPicker.com ( https://pcpartpicker.com/ ) is a great place to check different combinations and price them. You can browse systems that others have put together or start from scratch.

     

    I like having a laptop, so I go for one of the gaming laptops with a good video card and decent specs. At this point, I'm using an Asus ROG laptop, but I like MSI as well. The best deals I found were on NewEgg ( https://www.newegg.com/ ),

  3. Looks great now how did you render that

     

     

    It's three lights in a light list that only illuminate the character with "translate to" constraints so that they follow the character...the character is on a cyclorama. I'll attach some screen grabs to this post.

     

     

    My first thought was that there wasn't enough sway back and forth but the more I watch it the more I convince myself that the angle of view (side view) isn't telling the whole tale.

    In other words, I like it.

     

    It could be that the chimp doesn't appear to be stooped over enough... in the reference video the chimp seems to exert considerable effort to remain standing tall.

    Perhaps that is just my imagination playing tricks on me as well.

     

    In the video reference the chimp almost always has a prop of some sort that effects his stance.

    That may also be confusing my eye a little.

     

    So I guess what I'm saying is that you've got a really nice walk cycle going for him. That's a keeper.

    As for suggestions: I'd like to see another one with exaggerated swaying back and forth that hint at him struggling to intentionally maintain his balance.

    This might take on the idea of him favoring one leg over another or something along that line.

    Perhaps that is it then... great for an initial generic walk cycle but a bit too symmetrical for any performance bit.

    But... you know this already I think.

     

    Great character!

  4. Here's my guess...one klieg overhead and slightly left illuminating only the character (for the shadow under the hat brim) and ambient occlusion lighting the entire scene (causing the different shadow beneath the character). This is just a quick attempt...it needs work.
