  1. Hi, I'm trying to make a spiring seashell using the duplicator wizard. I got the idea from a reply on an old posting from the man that seems to know it all on this site (Rodney). I've been messing with the wizard but so far cant get anything remotely close to a tight spiral. I'm confusd as to what all the settings on the wizard means and how to control them to get a quality shape. If anyone has made something like this before feel free to share what settings you used. Thanks for looking. -PM
  2. Man....I'm a rookie. Problem solved (mirror mode was on). Is there anyway to retract a posting? I feel like a tool.
  3. Hi, I'm trying to get the hang of modeling on the latest A:M from the subscription and I ran into an odd problem....I used the lathe to make a circle (10 CP's) but I can only select half of it. I'm trying to make a tube so I need to extrude this circle and all CPs have to be selected at once. Any ideas why I can't bound group the whole circle at once? Thanks for looking. -PM
  4. So I just broke down and bought a subscription and I'm sooooo relieved to see how stable it is and that it's almost the same as A:M. However, when I open my old models in the new version they are different...and not for the better. It looks like there's spline issues that cause surfacing problems. Is there a simple answer as to why would this happen? Sorry if this uestion has been asked over and over. Also, is there a way to load pictures onto this site just so people can look at them at help me out with things like this? Thanks for looking. -PM
  5. Thanks everyone. I think I was getting ahead of myself though...I'm no where near the skill level of animation to pull this off. Maybe by the time I figure it out HAMR will be idiot proof. I'll look into your recommendation Masna...appreciate it. -PM
  6. Hi, I got A:M 2002 back in...well, 2002 and I haven't used it much and kind of forgot about it. I have recently been re-inspired to learn it and I have some questions regarding the latest version and the bajillion updates inbetween. Considering how I never really made anything to speak of on A:M 2002, I'm kind of reluctant to buy the latest version without conquering the old one. So here's the questions: 1) Will the models I make in 2002 be able to transfer over to the latest version? 2) If I get the latest version will I have to relearn everything or is it the same as 2002 but with more features? 3) I've always had a problem with A:M 2002 shutting down on me. On my old comp, it used to be when I would try to pose characters. Now it's if I hit the "redo" button several times and when I try to import a model into an action window. Does this ever happen with the latest version? 4) Will the tutorials (DVDs and books) on sale at hash.com apply to A:M 2002 or will I be totally lost? 5) If I did decide to update...what would you do if you were me: Buy the latest version on CD, subscribe to the updates, or look for the discontinued 2007 update that used to be on sale on hash.com (I like that idea better than the updates to be honest)? Thanks for looking. -PM
  7. Dear Animation Masters: I'm new to A:M and this forum and I'm getting the modeling and such down but the technical stuff...not so much. I hate to say it but I have that love/ hate relationship with A:M. I love the creative side but hate the technical/ computer side. I know several of you feel my pain. Anyway, I'm interested in making a very simple memory game using A:M and I was wondering if there's a plug in that allows a user to interact with the animation...meaning I model the objects, set up the animation and choreography, and during the animation you can click on the objects with a mouse to make them do certain things (flip over, stop, change colors, etc). Has anyone written such a program? I looked at the training videos for sale and one said something about making video games using A:M but I'm not even ready to tackle doing that yet...just something basic. Any thoughts? Thank for reading. -PM
