  1. G'Day All The weirdest thing hey! But first to "arkaos" and "Dhar" thanks for your replies, i had done already all you suggested and to "arkaos" i don't think I'll zip the project and send it through, you see...it works now?!? Today upon opening and playing the project with that darn non-playing "boing.wav" I hear 'boing', 'boing', 'boing', 'boing' as the project repeats itself. I didn't do a thing...go figure?!? Now I don't know much about computers but i know enough to say that, this and a few other problems/bugs I've found in using A:M since upgrading to Microsoft vista home premium, is additional fuel to the fire that will be my reverting back to XP pro on Saturday. Damn vista; damn it to hell!!! (yes yes I know, why on God's green earth did i bother pre-service pack 1 or 2 with vista?!? - well i had my reasons and hey everyone suffers a mind blow-out from time to time - God vista is a friggin' nightmare!!!!!!) So hopefully on Saturday/Sunday XP will be back up and running as will A:M and I can be back to the safe and working world pre-Vista install Hell! Thanks to all again! Chris
  2. Hey there, I'm having a bit of trouble getting a sound "boing.wav" (from A:M Yeti CD Sound Library in cartoon folder) to play while scrubbing &/or pressing the play button. I have dragged and dropped into sound folder then dragged and dropped into a characters' choreography action folder in the choreography folder; mute is off, volume is 100% the sound starts a few seconds into the animation project but no sound......so......what could be wrong? An interesting thing though, in the tools>options>sounds, this setting does not see the sound and says 'No sound object loaded', Iwould have thought the "boing.wav" from the library would change that and allow me to set the master playback volume or at least show the sound was there. I can right click on the sound in the library and in the project itself and press "play" and then hear the sound effect okay, so yes my computers' volume and sound card are working. I've been looking up past forum topic discussions on sound and have followed advice where it applied, however i didn't see anything 100% describing my problem. Also, sound has worked for me in the past when doing "Exercise 7: Can You Say That?". Secret played while scrubbing. So why won't "boing.wav" play and why does the sound settings box not 'see' it as being loaded? Hope someone out there can help, will be appreciated! Cheers fellow animators Chris...
  3. G'Day Caroline, Yes the jpeg did work. My globe with world map decal spins like a charm. My problem was pre-AM in photoshop. It didn't like transparent parts in an image. But Now.... Thanks for the reply cheers chris
  4. Hi David, Thanks for the quick reply, nice work! I am trying to put a map of the world on a sphere that has the oceans transparent and the land mass black. Photoshop allows me to save a transparent background which helps and it saves as .png but not so with .jpeg, so I'll give it a go. One more question; I want to make the black land mass (from seeing it through the sphere/planet) change color, to blue as the planet spins. Is this possible on the one sphere or would i extrude another one outside/inside the original and decal the same map of the world (now with blue colored land mass) on the outside/inside? Or am I barking up the wrong tree and there's a complete other way to do such a thing?
  5. Hello all, Just wondering if there is a list of usable image file formats that can be used for decals. I know '.jpeg' can be used, however after modifying an image in adobe photoshop and then applying it to my model as a decal, nothing showed up. Sorry I can't say what file format it was, I'd scrapped it and used a .jpeg instead. However after a while I started to wonder. So does anyone have a list? Also more to the point can I use a .gif or .png image file without changing settings in decal? Happy animating!
  6. Robcat2075 you guru! It worked a treat! Thanks bro... As I said, the problem had to be something simple I'd overlooked. And can I say as a new user to not only AM but the forum, what a quick turn-around for the answer (to pass a bit of time I re-watched Shaun freeman (Animation Basics) and Mark Weller (Am SimCloth) on Siggraph 2005 then checked here.) Thanks again...see ya
  7. G'day fellow AM users, hope we're all well... Just a quick question from a new animating loving brother down under. I've done all the tutorials with some success and a whole lotta fun! But now I am trying out a short animation of my own and have run into a strange thing that I am wondering how to get around. In choreography I have dropped in "kid" and "Resolute Walk" onto a path, changing the Ease to allow him to walk down the path for a few seconds. I play back and all is well. Now, here's where I need some advice guys and girls of AM. I now at 6 frames latter wish to alter "kid"'s foot so he appears to finish the walk at a standstill. I go into the nulls and move the foot (which at the end of the walk is in mid air) to the ground, I play back and the moved foot stays still during the walk. I have tried fixing by adding keyframes and turning on/off the "A" (Animate) button as well. But nothing works! Please tell me I have suffered a 'brain-fart' or something and have missed the most simple of things! ...ohh and don't forget to tell me how to approach the problem. Thanks and happy frames to all from chris!!!!!
