Having finished me third BB storyboard, I decided to do some animation. I started by giving BB some eyebrows, reducing the sharpness on her cheeks and giving her a proper join on her neckline. What do you Hashers think?
I have also notice an anomally under her right eye. There is a 5-point patch there and it normal is pointing in the right direction (as on the other side), but whereas it renders fine in model mode it doesn't when I drop it in a choreography with lights. I get that shadow artifact…
I am using AM 11.1e on the PC.

Well thankyou Paul, and yes I am still pluggin away at Bella Bear & Co. - I must admit sometimes it does seem to be all uphill but I am looking forward to what's on the other side, whatever that may be
I know the leaves are sticking through the kite bt I had a few set backs today. I had Hannah waving her magic wand with particles attached and all it seemed to do was crash my scene (do you think her spell was pointed at me?). So I lost a little time and that's why me leave ain't riot.
Anyway, I have only six shots left to do and that all three stories under me belt and time for animating - so watch this space!

Hi Hashers
Just thought I'd post another image from my third Bella Bear story just for fun...
This shows you what happens when you go hang gliding on a kite without a licence
I have nearly finished this third story (storyboard format) and once done I am anxious to start animating some of the scenes... that should be fun

Well, when I finally got there (the London Underground had decided to do maintenance work right on the route I was trying to take) I met up with the rest of the BA:Mers in the pub, then off we went to the Chocolate Factory.
Personally, I think it went better than the previous venue - and not just because I had discovered where the volume button was on the laptop
We all strutted out stuff, except Pequod who was too cold, and it was great to see Steven there showing us all the interesting rigging systems using expressions that he has developed.
I thought Johns animation around the picture gallery was highly amusing and started to wonder about my poor animation skills.
But I must say it certainly recharged my batteries and has inspired me to press on and start doing some little animated sequences of me own to a much better level.
I was sorry that Paul couldn't make it. I would have liked to see what he's been upto but I hope he's reading this little summary and Parlo said there will probably be another venue in March/April. By then I might have some animation to show that I am pleased with
All in all a great event (well, I thought so anyway) and sorry I had to dash off so quickly but it was getting past my bedtime…

Little question about the laptop... does it have firewire?
Nope!
Just looked, sorry I didn't get back earlier the internet connection in my area seems to have been down for hours
-
Yes, I'll be there armed with the 'Incredible Laptop' and thousands of questions for anyone who wants to hear them or even answer them...
-
I'm free all of February and so if the 'Mighty' laptop
-
Well we're a good week into February, has anyone got an idea of a date yet? I am looking forward to this meeting (if it happens)...

All
Gee Fanks guys & girls, you've made someone who's enthusiam is waning a bit bounce back again
CreativeAustinYankee
As it is now, he kinda looks like he has bark inside his mouth.Yeah, I know what you mean. Thing is I didn't really know what the inside of a talking trees mouth should look like - I'll have to think about this
mtpeak2
Yeah I knew this one, I just kinda got lazy and forgot to do it I will re-render it soon once I decide what to line the inside of the mouth with.
-
Blimey, these are quick replies - thanks guys you've made my day
Nancy
You're quite right I haven't added any bump to the tree, I was so carried away with the intial impression that I quite simply forgot… I will add one later today for a re-rendering
-
Well I could help posting this, I know a lot of you have already seen this model but I kinda finished off the texturing and the scene with Bella and Hannah. I was so pleased that I wanted to show everyone... who might be interested... even in the slightest... or who happens to click on this post by mistake...
-
Well at £5/hour each that don't sound alot but if you were to spend 3-4 hours there that would be £15-20 each - ouch!
If Parlo was to get the room in February that's only a couple of weeks away and I would have so much more stuff to show everyone
What say you lot?
-
Garry? Whose Garry? I am Gary
OK, less of the smart-arsing around. I have a mouse, a latpop and I know how the sound works this time, but whether I can make the 29th I don't know yet so I will say a provisional… wait for it!
YES!
I have lots of things I'd like to discuss with you lovely lot, as I am sure you have with the rest of us. So hopefully I will see you all there with the 'Incredible Laptop'. We just need to firm up on times and venues.

I have
I also know how to work the volume now

Aggh! I didn't think to actually check Dan's website
But thanks Chris for pointing it out to me, that is great news that it is available for OSX 10.5 - both EggSlice and Skylight. I have them both I think I'll upgrade

Zaryin
This model is taking shape but I see what you mean about those breasts, they look like they have had silicon implants in them if you want the honest truth.
Thing is there is no definitive breastis there, they come in all shapes and sizes and I have see a few
I think that they need to have less of a gap between them on the chest and not quite so bulbous on the top near the nipple. Kinda conveying that they have a bit of weight rather that sticking so proudly forwards if you know what I mean

If I remember correctly Eggslice was developed by Dan Shimmyo and sold through Eggprops which was Eggington Productions online shop. It was originally developed for A:M 8.5 and I doubt very much that it works with versions 10.5 or 11
I visited Eggprops again and the site has changed, what was once bountiful in A:M models and materials is now a small collection of fruit I searched for Eggslice but it wasn't available. I think I remember talk of Dan making a newer version of both Eggslice and Skylight but I think he is far too busy in his new job.
Trouble with A:M plugins is that unless you can sell a large number of them they just don't seem worth the effort due to the small market - unless you are very keen of course

Well I got me new PC Just before Christmas but didn't have the chance to set it up until now…
It is an Athlon 3000+ 64-bit with a Foxconn 755A01 series logic board, XP Home, a nVidia 5200 128mb GPU, 1gb RAM. Not bad, with the opportunity to upgrade the CPU and GPU when I am ready
Then I ran the AM test… using the frames and settings we have all been using and here are the results:
Frame 97: 51 secs
Frame 98: 45 secs
Woooow!!! Then I played around with the knight character in the action window with a few actions plonked on him - he was going faster than I could (ain't hard).
So it looks like I made the right AM decision buy getting a new PC and not a Mac. I would have had to pay 2.5 times as much to get less performance.
Guess I got no excuse now not to start doing some serious animation - looking forward to it
Thanks for all your help Hashers!

Hi everyone!
Just wanna wish all those hard-working people at Hash Inc. and everyone here at the forums a very Merry Christmas and a dynamic New Year
A very special thanks also to everyone who has encouraged and given me support in me 'Bella Bear' endevours too - much appreciated
Off to pretend I am Santa now… all those sherries (yuk!)

Rodders
Now I have a moment I'll give you the update
I have been working on my third Bella Bear story and hopefully this one should get finished over Christmas.
I sent my previous two stories of to a literary agency to see if there was any potential to have them made into children's books. Ironically, they basically said that I should try to use them to get a job as an animator
So knickers to turning them into books and indeed doing the changes they said to make them more appropriate for children's book - I will now start animating!
I am not gonna even attempt to animate one, let alone three of the stories, I will just choose a section of one and animate that. I will probably need some help so I will be asking in the new year
In anticipation of this I am getting a new fastish machine (PC unfortunately) which will help me in my quest. Oh, and I might start actually producing some passable animation

Since it's an igloo, maybe the walls should be more bluish to suggest ice and snow?
What's that on the right? A tree trunk in an igloo? A lava flow?
Well, it's not strickly an igloo... that's just a working term I have for it cos it looked like an igloo. That on the right is a tree trunk - its grows right through the middle of the igloo. I think I will rename it to Bear Lodge -much better title and do an external render so you can see her home in full glory.
Ohhhhh... It's a girl!Oh we are having a dig at me today aren't we... well she would have looked an effeminate boy if indeed she was a boy
Rodney
Thanks for the comments. I will indeed give you an update on my plans for Bella Bear hopefully this week, at the moment I am having three Christmas Parties to attend and having to work the weekend. Hopefully I will update you here before Christmas - I would love to tell you all what's been going on

I was just thinking that maybe BB would have furniture which matched the contours of his home. Just a suggestion.
'HIS? HIS?'
HER!!!
Mind you your not the only one that thought this I must admit she does look a little bit androgenous, others have made the same comments. I have been meaning to add some eyelashes which I think would do the trick.
I agree with you about the furniture moulded to the shape of the walls it would give it a very unique feel. I might adjust the dresser to mould in with the walls.
Is there a chance he meant "Characters"?I agree, I think he means characters...
Thanks for all the comments gang - much appreciated

Who are the 'correctors'? Is it a US program?
Obviously I have never heard of them…
Glad you thought it looked cosy, it's meant to be
