V12 Update Help [solved]

Recommended Posts

Hello!

It's been a while since I've been here but I've reinstalled Hash A:M v12.0d (witch and cat on CD). Is this the latest update for this CD version? When I tried to update to v12.0w, it says I need to insert the correct CD or something like that. Any help or info would be great.

Thanks!
Joe

Hi Joe!

The operating system code that allowed CD-dongles such as A:M used was removed by Microsoft several years ago because of some sort of a security problem.

You will not be able to start those versions unless you are running some Windows earlier than Windows 7

There is an work-around for Windows 7...

Begin at post that starts "Work-around explained"

I don't think this will work on Windows 10 but I recall one forum member, whose post I can't find, was able to do something to make CD version A:Ms work on Windows 10. I have not tried that.

EDIT: I see you found it already!

The last updates for each version can be found at the FTP site...

Thanks for the help!

I figured it out. I downloaded the v12 update from the 2006 FTP folder instead of the 2005 folder. Thankfully yes, the CD work-a-round worked just fine for me on Windows 7. Not a fan of Windows 10.

Thanks again!
Joe
