Pose after walk cycle

I am trying to repose my charactar after a walk cycle. But when I do it messes up the action. How do I do a walk cycle with an action, then when the character gets to the end of the path do I then animate him without messing up the action? I tried making a new keyframe frame just after it but that didn't seem to work.
