Here's the inner workings of a combined cycle power plant. The final animation will fly around the parts. I just added the grid, which I think is much better than the flat background I tried first.

when you are going for a fly-around why are you using a planar design?

as a first step you could use 2 planes, 1 for the hot water and one for the cool water.
