I've got a simple mdl file with two groups, "low-res" and "hi-res". I saved the file and ran Weight Mover, but the hi/low res groups don't show up in the "Weight Transfer Groups" list.

Any suggestions for how I can get Weight Mover to read the file/groups?

I found a couple of non-legal patches in the low-res model and fixed those. Now WeightMover reads the mdl file and groups OK, but when I save the weighted mdl file it is 0 Kb (an empty file) and gives an "invalid model file" error in A:M. What's up?

I'd guess the problem is that you're spelling it "low-res." Your English teacher approves; WeightMover doesn't. It wants you to spell it "lo-res."

WeightMover isn't quite as smart as I'd like it to be. Expect any future versions to accept all reasonable alternative spellings of group names, and possibly a few unreasonable ones for good measure. In the meantime, make sure your groups are "hi-res" and "lo-res", exactly.

Let me know if you have any more trouble with it. Actually, if that doesn't clear up the problem, mail me the model so I can take a look at what it's doing -- morgan [at] anzovin [dot] com.

Hi Morgan,

I checked the group names and did use "lo-res" and "hi-res". I'm sending you the file to look at.

Thanks for the help.

I got everything working fine by shortening the file name that WeightMover saves out to. For whatever reason it didn't like my long, descriptive file names.
