  1. Hi. I've been reading that A:M imports .obj files but with some problems in the earlier releases. I have v13. The issue is that I need a real good kick-ass dinosaur for a project -- and I suck at modeling anything 'real'. I found this one on Turbo Squid: http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/369646 ...But it costs a lot of money. I'll make the investment if I had some kind of comfort that the .obj file will import correctly and that I could add Walk Cycles, animate it, etc. (since I can't return it). Anyone have experience in importing .obj files in v13? Anything I should be warned about? Thanks! DirectorDave
  2. The project is saved...but now I'm thinking about that 'embedded' word...hmmmm...I saved it, but I don't recall embedding it. 1) Is that possible? 2) What now?
  3. Try opening up the "project workspace" window (ALT+1) and double click on your model under "objects" Tried that (I'm on a Mac, so I'm looking at 'Control 0' right?), and still nothing. There is something called 'model1' under objects, but it's blank.
  4. I just completed the "Giraffe" chapter of the book, accidentally got rid of the project (Model) window -- and now I can't find it! Yes, this project was saved -- I've restarted -- I even went back to 'reset controls', but to no luck. I can open up any other project and I get its corresponding window (in this case, the "Model" window), but just not the one I spend the last five hours working on. Another interesting thing...when I choose to open another project A:M asks if I want to save my job, "Giraffe" -- so I know it's there, just no window. So what stupid, silly thing am I not doing? I swear I've pushed every button more than once now trying to get my cool giraffe back on the window so impress my three year old daughter (my one year old wouldn't be that impressed). Thanks
  5. Thanks! It looks like I'll be calling in the morning...even when I downloaded the update, it didn't have a checkbox for installing the CD Library files to the harddrive (or anything for that matter)....and the other option was good, but it still didn't work.
  6. Hi. I was hoping to start off my relationship with this board with something cool and interesting, but I have to start off with something very lame... I've installed/uninstalled this program four times on my Mac 10.4.7 computer. The reason? Within the very first lesson (Exercise 1) the book asks to go to the 'Library', click on the "Models" tab, double-click the "Actors" folder, and drag-and-drop "KeeKat"... Well, there is no "Actors" directory...within 'All Library" or "My Library". In fact, there are no directories at all in the Library section. I can find that specific file and Import it from the disc...but I don't think that's what the makers had in mind. I could not find anything in the book to help (fill in the blanks), and my DVD tutorial doesn't work (that's another thread after I fix this one!) Am I missing something? Is this very simple and easy program even too much for me? Boy, I'm lame...
