  1. makes good sense, i was thinking That the Woot level isnt very big, so they would be able to play as nick chopper As tin woodsman, Fairly Fast. THen again, the part with Woot isnt very important to the story, unless you start the game with Woot.....

  2. Thanks Doug. Guess I'm going to have to get Lord of the Rings now. So, if you pick Gandlaf, you don't have to act like the character, but infuse your own personality in that character? Or can you choose to be Treebeard, but a faster, meaner, more kick-butt version? If so, how does that play into the story? Let's say as Gandalf you decide not to get help to destroy the Uru and Orcs, but go off somewhere else? Can you go wherever you want, so essentially the story is being played out anyway, and the outcome would be different because the Gandalf you are is not there to help them win? That sounds interesting to say the leats, and although LOTR purists would probably not like that, other players can mess with the outcome everytime they play (talk about random play).

Im guessing it would be like this.....you choose not to help deafet the Urks, that would result in "LOSING" and you would have to start that mission over.

  3. Ive downloaded all the nececeary files.....and when i try to log into the comunity tab, it pops up with this...

Sign in name does not exist....am i sopposed to use something other than my Forum name and password?

Yep unfortunatly community signin is seperate for now. You can use the same name and password, but you need to register.

You also need to send a signin name and password to willp@hash.com so he can register a svn signin for you if he hasn't already.

Three seperate systems that haven't been made to share the same password database yet. Dotproject and the forum have been made to work together though.

    Ok thanks.

  4. Isn't there some kind of procedure game companies already use to keep track of

    1. Main story line.

    2. quests, sub quests, sub-sub quests

    3. If/Else splits in the game design

This draft is starting to get very long. It is kind of cumbersome to scan through it looking for changes and updates.

Can anyone thing of a way to start Tin Man out as Nick Chopper? So we can make Tin Man in Ku Klip's workshop?

If we make Tin Man, we'll probably also have to do a quest to get him a heart, since he got his heart before our story opens.

I guess once Woot learns how to use his shovel, he can be sent to Ku Klip's workshop instead of the Tin Man's Castle?

But what happens if the player stumbles upon the Tin Man's castle before he builds Tin Man in Ku Klip's workshop?

Still, it might be a nice touch to include to Love tragey of Nick Chopper and Nimmee in the beginning - somehow.

I was thinking we would have it be a level for when Tin Man remebers....When Woot ask him how he was made of tin.....thats what i was thinking.

  5. Act I “Tin Castle”

Woot takes a ride in the Turkey Pulled Hay Cart.

    Challenge:

Can you steer your Cart or will it do the steering for you? Watch out for those “Cliff Ahead Signs”

    Mission:

Get a ride in the Turkey Pulled Hay Cart.

    Possible Solution:

-Go and talk to the farmer and ask him if you can take a ride in his Cart. He will say sure as long as you can help him lift those “VERY HEAVY” Haystacks of the Cart and into his shed.

Sooo time to go move em heavy hay stacks. Go and take them of the Cart until your done. Now you can take a ride in the cart! Yay!

So just follow the signs, but be warned you don’t want to follow the “Cliff ahead” signs.

    Mission 2:

    Get into tin castle.

    Challenge:

There’s a very scary servant, blocking your path.

    Possible solutions:

-Time to take that shovel and jump, right over his head woooohooo where in!

-Time for a battle, watch out for that bridge it likes to retract. Make sure you don’t fall off. Better find a way to out smart that servant…hmmm a bridge retracting…

    Mission 3:

Where in the tin castle…..now where is the throne room……The servant sure isn’t much help either….

    Possible solutions:

-Sooo off we go to try and find the throne room, Perhaps there’s a hidden door somewhere? What’s this funny looking tile right here?

Opps I stepped on it, Egad! It’s starting to move. Ahhhh so is the wall!!!! Hey look and elevator! Or something like that anyways….

Hey! We found the throne room yea!!!!!

    Mission 4:

Looks like we found the Tin Garden, time for some adventure!!!!

Challenge: So much for our adventure…..this forest is scaring me….How do we get out!!!!!!!

    Solutions:

-That tree looks funny….almost as if its pointing somewhere, well we might as well go where its pointing, Hey look a clearing! Where free!!! Oh….maybe not…

    Mission 5:

Time to get back at these Loons for poking us!

Challenge: Your not the only person with that pointy stick

    Possible solutions:

-Lets get em Loons….poke, poke, poke…..looks like there all gone….

Wait a minute, there getting pumped back up….i wonder how we’ll stop them, “if only they didn’t have that pump” *hint hint*

-Run For your life there going to kill us!!!! Yea! Where in the forest! Wait a minute… Yea tin man knows this tree where saved!

    Act I “Ku Klips Workshop”

    Mission 1:

Ok Vern already seemed to nail this one sooo……Yea! We get to Build the tin man!!!

    Mission 2: Find Nimmiee Ammee!

    Possible solutions:

-Well theres her house! Egad! Run Those birds are Fierce!! Phew we made it inside! Uh oh…looks like trouble….ahhh well looks like another battle…Time for Tin Woodsman o show his true stregth! Or will he be beaten…that’s got to be hard…

Ahh great the forest again….. Any more Direction trees?

    Thats all!

ooooooooo, darn looks like Homeslice beat me to the punch on these ones....

  6. One thing i like the most in "Kingdom Hearts" is the way that even if your not playing as the other 2 charecter with you, they still follow you around (You can see them) and help you fight. I suggest we look into that as well.

  7. My favorite game right now (and for the last year and a half) is a game called Runescape. It has many of the same features as WOW, but it is different. (They have both a free and pay version if you would like to try it out.)

What do I like about it? It has several forms of gameplay. You can do what I refer to as resource management. You can chop trees, mine ore, fish, farm, smith, fletch (make bows and arrows), craft (make all kinds of things like jewelry , pottery etc.) and cook. Building and owning your own house is in the works.

You can also develope the traditional fighting fields of Attack, strength, defense, range (archery), magic, hit points and slayer (handling specific monster assignments.)

For those who like the more intellectual efforts, there are quests, puzzles and clue scrolls that need to be solved, along with a few games rooms, a group war, gnomeball (soccer variant) and others.

It allows you to take whatever path suites you, although some paths require certain prerequisites (must complete quest "B" before being able to go into land "X".)

I could easily see this being adopted to the world of Oz. Different races to interact with, resources to deal with, fighting and magic. The quests idea is a perfect fit.

The really neat thing about Runescape is that it is a Massive Multi Player game. Each "World" (all exactly the same except some are for free players and most are for pay players. Pay players get access to more lands and features) holds a maximum of 2000 players, and we all get to interact with each other. We can add people to our friends list and do some quests together. In fact, several of the quests REQUIRE more than one person to solve it. This creates a sense of community in the game, so the game becomes very social for most players. We help our friends and attack our enemies. Lot's of fun. Since game play can be different every time you play, it doesn't become boring (at least not for me after 18 months.)

Try it out for free and you will see the way each of these ideas work together in the whole. Add me to your friends list (sorecsorec is my characters name) and you can PM me in game to discuss the various features.

    -Doug

Runescape, yea i like that game i play it all the time.

  8. Nice ideas Rodney It sure is nice having you help us out here!

Looks like rodney Fishished up Most of the First act so i guess ill take a little break from that.

...or you could incorporate his ideas into what you've already done? :)

    Yea i'll do that.
