  1. Someone a rough glance through the previous post so I hope no one minds to much if my suggestion has already been suggested. I would like it to be possible to make a bitmap with like red in part of the image and green in another and just apply it to the landscape like a decal and for instead of the land turning red or green, the green areas have tree models applied and the red areas get grass. With it possible to pick patterns of how the trees, grass, or shrubs or applied, like clustered scattered. Pick ecologies like mountain meadows or jungle. I think this could make for a great landscape quickly and with some finishing touches by the modeler themselves it could be spetacular.

  2. For a flying saucer I did once, I solved the detail problem by using the linoleum bump material and chrome material to the saucer part of it. Its important to have the chrome material first and then the linoleum bump material. The projection map on the linoleum material looks good when its set to repeat at 3 by 3. I also had the sky dome ambience at 100 percent.

  3. Find a dem for the location, put it through microdem, which is free and available at http://www.usna.edu/Users/oceano/pguth/web...icrodemdown.htm

In Microdem, load the dem. Right click the picture that pops up, click elevation colors, then colors, then gray scale. Save image as a bitmap. Load bitmap into paint or something else that does the job. Slecet the area you want, delete the rest. Save as bitmap again.

    Download terrain plugin from http://members.lycos.co.uk/toonnation/

Then load Animationmaster, startup terrain and load

the bitmap. Set type to fMm, magnitude to one or greater, and a step with of one and a width of 70. Repeat for step height. Have filter set at make mountain. This makes a instant landscape. Also enhanced AM textures help.

  4. The first I ever heard of the make dragon button was in a "Making of jurassic Park" video. On it there was someone who was talking about how he was at first worried that 3d animation would be to much compettion. Would wipe out all the animatronic and prop making jobs. Would be so simple that if the animator wanted a dragon all he would have to do is click make dragon. Instead he found out it opened more possibilities, so more work for him.
