  1. I just assigned a bone to the whole prop, then rotated it once in an action

In the chor, I applied that and adjusted its speed and # repeats to fit the

    the loop...

    Thanks James,

I'll try that. I also just watched the tutorial on walk cycles and wheels. It looks like I might also be able to animate the propeller as a wheel (Euler limits). I'll try both, but your way sounds easier. Thanks.

  2. Good luck with the dictionary, Teresa. I'm going to make a handwritten note about that button in my "Art of Animation Master" book, or I know I will end up asking the same question again in a few months or so. (My memory could definitely use an upgrade.)

  3. I'm working on exercise 7 in the "Art of Animation Master", and I'm having a little trouble. When I open the dopesheet in the new action, it appears in the project workspace, but not in the timeline. In the manual and in the video tutorial, the words can be moved around in the timeline. I can only do that in the project workspace. Is this a difference between PCs and Macs? I've included a screenshot of what I'm seeing. Thanks.

  4. I'm trying to understand the effects of using different render settings and codecs and found this suggestion in an archived discussion.

DON'T choose your codec right in animation master. Render to .tga files (or if you want to go direct to an animation file use the huffyuv lossless codec) and get the animation on your hard drive in as high a quality as possible. THEN you can go expiriment with codecs all you want withouth having to re-render. Load the animation in A:M's image folder, right click, and save the movie as, which will let you re-compress into whatever.

Can someone tell me what "load the animation in A:M's image folder" means. Is this something I do from within AM, or am I supposed to move the tga folder into one of AM's folders? The closest folder I see to an image folder is one called ImageIOS, but I doubt that's what I'm looking for.

    Thanks.

  5. Hi everyone,

My name is Bruce Winn and I'm busily working my way through The Art of Animation Master. I'm an editor during the day, and AM gives me an escape after work. I can't say I have a knack for it, but I can say I have fun with it. I'm really impressed with how helpful everyone here is. These forums are one of the big plusses of AM.

  6. Thanks, Leo.

The original choreography is 2 seconds longer than what I uploaded. The pause you see at the end of the uploaded version was actually a pause for effect before Shaggy waved to the audience (You can see that he has come out of the "cancan" action and dropped his hands). I cut off the last couple of seconds (the wave) to make the file size smaller.

A still earlier version had "Eddie" sneak in behind the dancers, wave to the crowd, and then do a dramatic death scene (all from library actions). The dancers kept dancing, oblivious to Eddie's antics behind them. That was way too big a file size, but it made me laugh.

Remarks/Suggestions for Improvement: The little guy is supposed to have his fingers crossed behind his back while he is being scolded by adult rabbit. I think in an animation the camera could move through a place that makes it more obvious.

Remarks/Suggestions for Improvement: I have had this software sitting on a shelf for longer than I care to admit, but now I have to try to get up to speed. This seems like a great way to start. I don't know why I used toon rendering. I thought I'd try it. Thanks for doing this, Rodney.
