Does anyone know if this surface detection is intended to detect actual model surfaces or be limited to model control points like it is with cloth?

William:
I've added a slight outward curl to the bangs of a girl model I'm working using the brush feature in version 11. I suppose if you added enough control points to the hair guides and applied the right amount of kinkiness you simulate curly hair. See the 11.0 feature section http://www.hash.com/am2004/Modeling/Hair/index.htm

Arrg! No wonder I couldn't get the hair to cooperate. I've had to set the stiffness so high that it looks like my character suck his finger in a light socket. Eagerly awaiting the collision detection with beta breath.

Randy, Thanks for straightening me out about collision detection. Based on your response I went back into AM and noticed that when I upgraded from 11. beta 1 to 11 beta 2 I did not turn the hair dynamics back on. After turning it back on, as well as, all of the advanced options on the global panel I noticed that the Stiffness property is now missing fro my hair system? Have I missed a bit flip somewhere in the software to turn this back on?
