  1. Hello all,

First, obviously, I'm not a participant in TWO (though I would love to take a shot at it, other unfulfilled commitments make it impossible), but I have, however, wrote, directed and produced a feature film that's been theatrically distributed (limited) and continues to be DVD accessible through Warner Bros' home video. I say all this simply to establish that I know a little bit about Indie production controversy and adversity, and I believe that publically airing the controversy is VERY necessary. Here's why with a word of encouragement.

I am a huge fan of the TWO endeavor and have been watching from a far with great admiration. I'm simply posting this as an encouragement to all of those involved.

Virtually EVERY independent production that has ever been produced has drama! What you all have been going through is the rule not the exception. The only things that determines whether a production is a success or failure is perserverance and BELIEF in the vision in the face of adversity. Period! Those of you who got involved in this project because you thought it would be "cool" or "fun" or anything like that better strap in because the ride COULD get even bumpier.

This is truly where the rubber meets the road- cliche though it may be- and people have to look inside and see what they're made of. As ludicrous as this may be I'm actually going to quote Michael Crighton, "Creation is a force of sheer will!"

I hope and assume that adversity and controversy was factored in to the decision making equation of whether to start this project or not.

Martin is playing a high risk game for the whole of the 3d commuinity to see. If this succeeds (which I see no reason thus far why it shouldn't), much will have been proved and gained. If it fails, it will do- imho- significant damage to the reputation of HASH, unfair though it may be. Martin has gambled on the "sheer will" of this community. So again, those involved have to look in the mirror and say "how much perserverance do I have to give this endeavor?"

This is just typical independent film making. Airing the drama is appropriate. Every prospective participant needs to look at the reality of Indie production.

  2. This is just a fantastic, awesome leap forward. Hash is now steps away from being able to unarguably say "game over" to the other "big" packages.

This is truly exciting and I will be upgrading from ver11.

I don't think it can fairly be compared to Zbrush just yet. The thing that makes Zbrushing so enjoyable (at least for me) the realtime interaction and painterly feel. When A:M comes out with a 3d paint tool AND true HDR image based lighting, it will officially, unequivically be GAME OVER! But in the meantime, this is awesome, and i can't wait to try it out!!

  3. Srmjr,

My bad, didn't notice the forum, just got the posts in the last day and tried to help out where I could.

I was looking at getting the TSM too, but money was tight this holiday.

Maybe for my birthday in a few weeks... :D

No prob', I appreciate ANY attempt to help! And, I hear ya about the money being tight over the holiday!

  4. RV,

Thanks! That's just what I needed to know. Given the loss of Steve Anzovin, I certainly don't expect "business as usual." I'm sure they'll get it tome as they can.

    Again, thanks, RV!

  5. You should have received your serial number with your CD and manual. (If you are installing on a new machine and you had a serial back when you first purchased A:M you can call hash and give them your info and they will provide you with your old serial number)

If you did not, I would contact the vendor you purchased A:M from.

If you purchased from Hash Inc., then you should just contact them by phone. I'm sure one of the guys there will be glad to assist you.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I'm talking about the TSM2, from Anzovin not A:M. This is the Anzovin Products forum.

  6. Now that I've downloaded, the TSM2 installer is asking for a serial # . Where do I get one. Was it to be sent or am I missing something. I certainly understand if it's something to do with the recent loss of Steve Anzovin. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something or did something wrong during the ordering process.

  7. I know this is an old and dead topic but I want to download this plugin but where is the hxt folder?

It may be old but it certainly isn't dead!

I think everyone is just taking a breather before round 2 starts.

There are also other plant type threads sprouting up all over the place that have the floor at this time to complement the work by Marcel. :)

    Here are three*:

    Tree growth Animation

    Toon Flower Model with Sliders

    Creating Leaves with Hair

    Too much fun! :)

...and there are other areas that fit nicely into the realms of greenery; Grass for instance:

Rodney, YOU are a living breathing reference manual!!!

    Thanks! Just amazing!

  8. Hey Drak', fyi, things look good. I've tried the whole translate to constraint thing, and it seems to work pretty well. I haven't tried to get too specific with it yet. But just as an arbitrary concept, it looks like it's going to work.

  9. Yoda, yep. I get the same results. It's definitely a problem with the moto1 model. I've tried using other models and had no problem. I guess I should send this in as a bug. I just don't like sending bug reports until I'm absolutely sure I haven't missed something, and sense I tend to miss MANY things, I rarely absolutely sure. In this case, however, I think it's a bug.

Drak', thanks for that work around suggestions. When I have opportunity, I'll give that a try and let you know my results. Could be your .02$ turns out priceless.

  10. I've tried examining the channels. the model should be viewable, it's not. Also, it's not showing up in the modeling view port either. I literally have to delete and then reimport the model into the project, to see it again.

I would love to see someone make rigid bodies work with the "Moto" model from the vehicles page on the Hash free models site.

  11. I trying to get a motorcycle to slide into a group of garbage cans, knocking the cans around. For some reason, after I've set up the choreography and try to simulate rigid bodies, the motorcycle disappears. I've tried using the exact same steps as the cosmic bowling tut'. I've even tried Cosmic Bowling tut to make sure it wasn't something about the software. Cosmic Bowling worked fine, the motorcycle slide didn't.:blink:

Edit: I've even had reasonable success having a trash can collide with other trash cans, but for some reason, when the I use the motorcycle, it simply disappears frm the choreography- not from the PWS, but the choreography viewport.

    Any ideas or insights?

  12. Can anyone tell me how to get the decals for some of the models on the Hash free models page. I've written James in the past about it but have had little luck. I know those guys are pretty busy, so I thought I'd try my luck here.

  13. Is there any extensive documentaion on DC?

I've looked at the A:M tech reference edited by William Sutton and the Hash online tech reference.

I would just like to have more info on the various settings, collisions, mass, etc, etc. I'm sure some of this is similar to the settings with partilcals . I just need more info...,

    anyone...??

    Sterling

  14. Hey Phil,

I haven't even looked at that project yet, but your articulation of the process was so clear and helpful, I probably don't have to (but I will anyway ;) ) Thanks for sharing that.

  15. Quick (forgive the pun) update.

I had little to no problems exporting a Syntheyes Hash Proj' that was referencing a Video compressed QT file and then moving the files to my Mac and opening the project in ver9.5 . This is great news for me as my work flow (such that it is), won't come to a grinding halt. HOWEVER, I was hoping not to spend much time in 9.5 these days. I was quite happy in version 11t. I guess come Monday, I'll give the Hash gang a jangle and see if they can resolve the issue.

  16. Any reason you can not save it to another QT codec format, one that can be imported and that works with Syntheyes?

Unfortunately, no. For some reason, in this particular instance, Syntheyes only seems to generate the best camera path with the Video codec. I'm going to try to get a solution in Syntheyes and then import the project file into A:M 9.5, hold on tight and see what happens.
