That has to be the craiest thing I have ever seen!
I loved it!!!

from your tool bar you are in an action window. Close that out and open your model from the project workspace, under objects, then click F5 for modeling and F6 for bones mode. This is where you need to be to construct your skeletons. Hope this helps get you in the right direction

I use this all the time when setting up ,my lights for models. I will place them all in the model file then once all is set I delete the model and save it as a seperate model works pretty good for me. If i d ont want all the lights on I just dont import the light model.

I did some tests omn this my self in v13, the denser the mesh the less you have to increase the % on the ground model, single patch I had to cranck it up to like 8000% to match what a 900 patch model had at 500%.
-
Actually I am using it in conjunction with Vue4.
I create the landscape I want in Vue then I can export it as a grey scale file. Then I will actuall texture it in Vue then set the lights to be directly over it so there are no shadows and render a hi rez color render this I will use for my texture.
I then open AM Terra Form and import my grey scale image and create my landscape. This is where I had to go back into photshop to scale down my maps cuz I was getting a 1,000,000 patch count on my models, but they looked freakn great!
once that is done I import my rendered color image and just go to top view of my model and apply. It is already lined up and all. The only problem I am having is the rendered out map vrom vue is not the best so sometimes I get strange atifacts in my maps. I will try and post something later cuz the stuff I am working on I can not show since it is for production.

That is exactly what it was, the image size in pixes controls the density. Damn I must have been tired the past few days cuz that never crosses my mind.

I have started to gather after reading a bit more that your actual image size has some thing to do with it, as far as pixel size. Am I woring ro on the right track. I will have to do more tests, the last mesh came out at 690,000 patches or somewhere around there, and that is no typo.

Question..
I was reading the help file over and over but I cant seem to find it, of course it is late and I have been up all day. But is there a way to make the mesh less dense? right now I have had some models come upt and right under 1,000,000 patxhes and most right around 500,000. AM just does not handel large models like that every well.

The main concept for v2 is MDI (Multiple Document Interface). I'm going to incorporate 16-bit/channel for images and add options for adding planet curvature to a mesh or creating an entire planet. I'm also going to try and add a multi-mesh option - you can create a small, denser meshes that will fit right onto other mesh units. There will also be an option to create a simple gradient material that can be opened in AM along with the mesh so that you can more easily set up the textures.
I would definitly pay for this!!

Dark tree has fixed the problem!!! you need to download this dll and install it in C:\Program Files\Hash Inc\V13.0\DarkTree or where ever you have v13 installed and put it in the darktree folder and replace the old one. opps cant upload here, shoot me a pm and I will send it to you if you want.

Fantastic modeling! great work man!

Anyone else out there own the darktree program?
If so could you create a new darktree, in side the darktree program, using the external component and use an image map for color, bump and spec and then save it out and open in AM v13.
I get black X's on my mesh. This worked in v12 for the most part except during some renders I would get little back squares in my renders. I have contacted Darktree about this and submitted a report here. Just want to know if anyone else can confirm it.
I have a material that I created back in v10 that has always worked and now in v13 its a no go. I even tried to recreate it from scratch in both programs. if we could get more map options in the bitmap plus plugin then I could almost do away with using the simbiot plug in all together. But I dont know what the demand is for that.
I am not sure if the new .mdl files have casued this and darktree needs to update on thier end or what.
Thanks in advance,
Chad

I close on the 15th of august so around the 1sy of september we can all get together if you wish.

if i remember poser 5 or so has this feature and it was a simple turn on or off if you wanted it. I never did notice a drop in performance when I used it. Then again I never used it to extensivly either
oh and that was using poly's not patches.........

Cant really ellaborate on the job but that it is a dream come true! I tought myseof 3D through the internet and cant draw anything worth a damn but 5 years later, here I am. I dont even have a art back ground!
As for the rig, just shoot me an email with the specifics and I will knock it out for you.
-
ya that was a while ago though. I have since, got a full time job with AM so I have not had a chance to make the changes to it I wanted to.
-
actually the rig for this model would be very easy to di in a day or two max depending on how much time was actuall spent on it. if you need a hand with it email me at chad_hunt2003@yahoo.com
The model looks great by the way!
-
I would not go any other route than that of AM. When I started I was in the same boat and actually went the expensive route first...big mistake. I found that for someone like me who cant draw to save my life, even after taking classes, it is very easy to learn if you go through the exercises provided. it is well worth the $300.

Great work man, I absolutly love it and it works great!

Who really cares anyway? Unless you really need the number of post for some personal satifaction. if you ask me they should get rid of the status thing and number of post. I find that some people just post crap to up their numbers and status.
