  1. I deleted the light bone. It doesn't matter which mode I'm in.

The good old space bar just doesn't clear the window.

I discovered how to clear the effect that the light had induced: Simply close the MODELING window and then re-open it.

    Thanks anyway.

  2. A model can have a light bone added directly via the modeling window (right-click the object and ADD > LIGHT).

This adds a light bone to the model and lights the model.

I get this much, but when deleting the light from the model, the model remains lit by the light bone.

Does anyone have a tutorial on how to actually use this option?

    Thanks.

  3. Can you post a quick tutorial on getting the constraints to work. I've tried surface constraining...

I get a model to translate to and rotate with a surface, but it most certainly doesn't "bob" with the bumps in the surface.

    Thanks.

  4. Video cameras and 2D/3D software can render frame sizes that go beyond the normal viewing area of a normal television. In A:M, when you look through the Camera, you normally see 2 rectangles. The outer one is what actually renders. The inner one is "TV Safe". That means, if you want to make sure it is visible on a television, you need to keep you main actors and action within the inner rectangle. When developing Titles for television, there is one additional Safe Zone....Title Safe. The title safe area is where you would want to keep all of your on screen titles so that they display properly on TV. This area is slightly smaller than the TV Safe area...so in AM, your camera would have a third rectangular area when looking through it. And of course, this is all in reference to the NTSC standards (National Television System Committee). If you are eventually going to render your projects to video tape...err..DVD, you might want to check out the NTSC's website. 5. I noticed that there isn't a checkbox or switch or anything of the sort to turn on TITLE SAFE areas on camera shortcuts while in a Choreography. If you need to do this, here are the steps. 1. Save your Choreography out to your harddrive. This saves out the choreography to a .cho file. 2. Using a text editor, open the .cho file (you will have to select ALL FILES as the file tupe is using Windows' TEXTPAD, WORDPAD, or MS WORD). 3. Search for: [CAMERASHORTCUT] (with or without brackets) You will see this: [CAMERASHORTCUT] Name=Camera 2 TVSafe=TRUE TitleSafe=FALSE Just change TitleSafe=FALSE to TRUE. Hit Save in your program. Import the CHO file into AM (right-click on CHOREOGRAPHY and selct IMPORT) and you will notice that you have a new, smaller rectangular area when viewed via the Camera in your choreography. Now you can animate those things that are to remain TITLE SAFE. Enjoy.

  6. I know that v11 has the new "Hair brush" tool, but I know that a decal can do the "same thing" using Properties Driven set to OTHER with a property of DIRECTION. I know that White drives hair North East Blue drives hair North West Red drives hair South East Black drives hair South West Does anyone know what colors drive hair Vertical? Thanks

  7. Jim, I am making a label for a bottle. Obviously the bottle has transpearant, but when I apply a decal to it, the decal obtains the same transpearancy. Any idea of what I can do differently, aside from copying the CPs and pasting them in place and then decaling those? Thanks.

  8. Nope. C/F/P works fine ONCE on any given MODEL. Once you do it, then it doesn't seem to work. I looked at the Bias handle, as you suggested, but no go. Thanks, anyway. Maybe Steve can help.

  9. Greetings. Though I have been using A:M for a few years (curretnly running 10.5o on Win XP), I've never been able to solve, nor has anyone been able to answer, a problem with COPY/FLIP/ATTACH. I've read the manuals, the books, the web forums, the email forums, the magazine articles, and just about anything else that seems to be out there covering Animation Master. When modeling, the first attempt at COPY/FLIP/ATTACH works great. It is when I have been working on a model for quite some time and then delete half of the model to apply C/F/P, instead of flipping and attaching around the Y-Axis, A:M is flipping and attaching the model VERTICALLY. I am doing something wrong? Shouldn't it be as simple as selecting all CP's of the half-model, Right-Clicking, and selecting Copy/Flip/Attach? Thank you for any help.
