  1. Congrats on starting!

To upload movies here, you will have to investigate the Advanced Render Settings (when you click render make sure Advanced is ticked).

In your first exercise, the sky rendered black - under Output > Buffers, Alpha is turned ON. Just turn this off, and you will get a blue sky.

To render to .mov, the preferred format here, change format to .mov, then click the arrow next to format and click Set. Change the compression type to Sorenson Video 3, and medium quality. If you don't have Sorenson, then try mpeg4. These should render more compressed and make your files small enough to upload.

    Thank you! :)

a blue sky will help alot!

  2. You can also download a 160MB data file full of the models that you need for The Art of Animation:Master:

    Data file here: ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/misc/data.zip

The Art of Animation:Master here: http://www.hash.com/2007web/reference.htm

The data file has actions in it, which you use in the second TAoA:M exercise. The subscription A:M is not limited in ANY way!

As to your library problem, just putting it into a folder will not put it into the A:M library. The A:M library accesses a .lbr file which lists the library files. like actions and models, in it. Try opening A:M, opening an explorer window that shows the actions, and drag each action onto the relevent section of the A:M library displayed in the Project Workspace.

    very helpful thank you :)

  3. Ok to check out the program I bought a subscription.

First thing I tried to do was add some actions I got off eggdrops and add them to my library but program does not seem to recognize them.

did I do something wrong or is subscription limited to only 3 actions?

I put them in the correct folder.

also if I create my own actions can I save that to actions?

please be kind as this is my first opening of the program and my first questions.

forgive me if I seem stupid at the moment.

    I will get better. :)

  4. What exactly does "Subscription" do?

I see it for sale but what does it provide?

It really does not explain anything.

You get the Program (AM 15) for $50.00 the only catch is its for one year and it only works on one computer which is a pain if you need to render on multiple machines.

Alternatively if you purchase the program for $300.00, you get a CD that lasts for ever and you can install it on multiple computers which can speed up render times significantly.

So by buying the full version for $300 I do not need subscription?

  5. Thank you all! I am probably going to purchase it within the next 2 weeks. And trust me, I will be using all advice given. :D

I was fairly good at modeling polys. Not great but I could do it. I also know the benefits of great texturing. Textures can be magical at times in making a simple model look complex.

    Again Thanks!

  6. A good choice. Your artistic ability will serve as a great foundation...A:M should serve you well. Have a look at my portfolio (in my webpage) if you have a chance...I got 'in' to A:M to do cartoony 3D animations and somewhere along the line got sidetracked to making 3D graphics and TV-commercial animations to pay the bills.

Advice: Watch all the videos at hash.com... join-up with Rodney's TAOAM (The Art of Animation:Master) boot-camp program. Become a regular on this forum. Practice daily. Don't discourage.

    WELCOME!

I have bookmarked your site and will look at it all, Thank you.

  7. It took me about 6 months to get the hang of it. It is crucial to learn continuity. Once that is mastered it is easy to model.

Ok thanks. I will have many many hours now to practice so hopefully not that long. :o

  8. I am planning on buying this Animation Master and all the extras very soon. I have watched all the tutorials and the films made by users as well and am very impressed!

So I am already sold on it, But my question is Spline modeling.

I was a professional Cartoonist for 30 years and have some (little) experience in 3d modeling.

I am generally very good at anything I put my hands on and am wondering how high the learning curve is with modeling in this program.

I am recently disabled and and this program is what I will be spending most of my time on. LOL

Just wondering how fast or slow getting good at modeling was for everyone.

    Thanks!
