Help with rendering

Sorry to post the question in here but for some reason i cant post in the FAQ section. Anyways, i have a problem. Everytime i render something other than as a Final render i get a black screen. Why???? I've been trying to figure this out but i cant. Thanks for any help you can give me and, once again, sorry to post a question in the WIP.

The following have worked for me in the past:

Update your video card drivers to the latest.

switch from opengl to directx or vice versa.

Hey great that worked!!!! Whats the difference between the two anyways. Should i use one over another ???

Direct x was originally for videogames, Opengl was for graphics. On my machines at least, Opengl is significantly better in appearance and performance.

I had this problem a year or so ago. Worked with support but couldn't find a

solution. Finally I fixed it by uninstalling my video card drivers,

rebooting, forcing the computer to the standard VGA driver, rebooting,

re-installing DIRECT X and THEN installing the newest CERTIFIED video

driver. It's a lot of steps, but it worked. Now I am using a geForce 4 video

card and a 1.7GHz AMD processor and have never had toruble with that stuff.
