plasma Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Hi, It's been a while since I've used Motion Capture with A:M. What is the currentt state of Motion Capture with A:M? Are there tutorials? What data capture systems work with A:M these days? What is the best and easiest to use? Thanks, Plasma Quote
Bendytoons Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 Tim- Check the Reusable Motion forum. There are several threads relating to mo-cap. Quote
John Bigboote Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Yes, that forum is a good direction to start. As you will see there several of us Hasher's have recently (re?)discovered the beauty that is the BVH motion capture file. Basicly you: Make a new action and import your character with whatever rig. Select New: Motion Capture Device this will allow you to import a BVH file. Right click on said new: MoCap and select import BVH action...the file will import and you will see keyframes being loaded into your action, it may take a minute or 2 depending on the length of the MoCap. Once it is loaded you will see the BVH skeleton and if you scroll you can preiew it in action. Now, you need to constrain YOUR model to it. Start by situating(On frame 1 rotating and scaling) the mocap skeleton so it roughly matches-up to yours. Next, use translate to and orient like constraints to 'nail' your rig to the BVH, and adjust as you go so it fits. I usually start at the feet and work my way up. Basicly all that is needed is 2 feet, pelvis(hips), chest, head, and 2 hands...add more as needed. Sometimes they work...sometimes they don't so dont dispair if your 1st try fails. Quote
