Gene Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Hi All, I have recently purchased the SkyCast plugin and I have been experimenting with it. Overall it seems to add a lot to my Renders...however, I don't seem to be getting the same kind of quality that others have been producing. I would like to know if anyone has any guidelines or suggestions on how to setup the lighting just right. Also, I tried the SkyCast on an indoor scene (baically made a hole in a wall and wanted to see what would happen. Apparently, the SkyCast light goes right through the walls? Not sure why. Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Eugene Quote
JohnArtbox Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Hi Gene, If you posta scene I'll take a look at it and see what settings could be improved. Like anything in 3d there are no magic settings but a range of different settings depending up on circumstance. With the interior scene, I imagine that the skycast light is not setup to be outside the room. Agai, if youpost it I'll take a look. If you want ambience light for inside a room you can create an action which runs a light through the room and run that over the course of a frame. Quote
Gene Posted February 28, 2005 Author Posted February 28, 2005 Hi John, Thanks for the reply. I attached an image with and without SkyCast and this is really nothing more than an exercise for me to get familiar with SkyCast. You will notice that the image with SkyCast has something going on with the lighting on the inside wall. I think it has to do with where I placed the light, but I am not sure. Also, I noticed that when you do your renders, even if the model is a simple Sphere, the SkyCast rig makes it look so awesome...I just want to get to that same point, but I know I am not making the best use of the SkyCast rig. For example...what is the best type of light to use for a scene? What is the best location for the light? Can I adjust the light properties like cone angles and the like without screwing everything up? Have a look and let me know what you think. I will post an image of my setup next. Thanks, Eugene Quote
