  1. Look, I am no fan of Obama, but let's get off the "57" states thing. He obviously simply mis-spoke. "I've been to 57 states, one more to visit. Not going to Alaska and Hawaii." He obviously meant to say that he has visited 47 states so far, with one to go and two they are not going to visit.

Attack his position if you want. Look at his voting record if you want, but let's get off the 57 state thing. It was just a mistake and I am sure that McCain has made mistakes in his speeches too. It happens.

Although I tend to vote Republican, I am a moderate and can easily see the value of positions on both sides in many subjects. I really wish politics hadn't degraded into this big mud slinging contest. Let's get back to statesmen working hard to help our country and not concentrating on their own back pocket. Selfless leaders who want to govern, putting their constituents positions above their own. I don't want to hear attacks on the other party. I want to hear how you plan to lead, to fix things, to help make lives better. Give me real answers, not sound bites.

Unfortunately, political views are like religious beliefs. We learn our positions at a young age (for or against), typically from our parents (but not always) and I have not met many people who have changed their position once established. Thus the "I'm right and you're wrong" arguments commence, and nothing much gets done.

    Oh well, back to animating.

  2. Stian,

Fantastic as usual. You really set the bar high. It does seem that the weighting is a little off though. I would think that a 2000 pound chunk of metal probably wouldn't most that fast/smoothly, but then again, I haven't seen the transformers movie, so maybe that is normal for these things.

  3. Vern,

Thanks, the PDF should work great.

Aren't all brothers good for that kind of thing? Mine just got shipped to Italy for three years. Just before leaving he asked if I could watch out for his son who is heading off to college. You know, nothing big, just make sure he gets there, keep on him about his grades, be ready to help in an emergency, give him a place to stay for holidays and vacation, fill up his gas tank when necessary.... lol. You know, nothing big.

Seriously, I am happy to help him, but who else do you ask to do this kind of stuff if not your (in your brothers case - very talented) brother?

Way to come through for him. I'm sure he truly appreciates it.

  4. Although pursuing another story sounds exciting, wouldn't there some significant benefit to reusing the assets from TWO in another Oz storyline? If the purpose of TWO was to learn how to make a movie as a group over the Internet (among many others), wouldn't doing the same thing again with a different story be a little redundant for most? It seems that there is a core group of people contributing to TWO and they might want a little "rest" after all of their hard work. They may not come back for another round of the same basic project of developing a movie from scratch.

It seems to me (in my completely inexperienced mind) that the challenges of using the assets from TWO to create a sequel would be different then the challenges of creating another new movie from scratch. Improving the characters rigging, facial animations, actions, textures etc. would be an education in and of itself; kind of like a movie making advanced class. Not to mention that ability to use known good assets as another testbed to continue improving A:M like Martin has been doing through TWO.

If the desire is to simply make another movie, then go for a new script and new story. If education and A:M improvement is the goal, then stay within the TWO world and make a sequel.

    Just my opinion

  5. Just wondering if this is me, or are others having the same problem. When looking through all of the new topics and finding a MOV file I want to see, I right click the link and do a "save target as" (in Window IE) or "save target as" (in Firfox). I have never had a problem with this until fairly recently (it may be related to the forum update). Now, when I right-click to save the file, the filename defaults to "index.php". I can rename the file and save it as normal with no problems (ie; renaming John Bigbootes recent DETROIT.move file from index.php to dtroit.mov results in a properly saved .mov file).

This is happening on multiple computers with different browsers and different versions of these browsers. Note also that it doesn't always happen. I do sometimes get the correct filename to come up as the default, but most of the time I see index.php.

Now it's not a huge deal. I can afterall simply type in the correct name. It just seems that I shouldn't have to, and I don't have this problem on any other forum saving any other files.

So, is it just me or are others having this some problem?

  6. Shannon and Eric,

I know this is extremely short notice, but I am afraid Jason and I have to cancel for tomorrow. We unfortunately can't make it (for different reasons - I was hoping at least one of us could be there.) We will have to reschedule. Of course, you two can always meet, but no one will be at the office so you'll need to choose another location. I am very sorry, but it's unavoidable.

What weekends look good for you guys in October? Let me know and I will try to arrange another date for us.

  7. Hey Eric,

I haven't done much extra on the dwarf unfortunately, but my time should get freed up a little over the next 2 weeks (we will be finished with the other house by then.) I have done a little so I will try to post something this Sunday. I am out of town in sunny Orlando Florida right now on a business trip and will fly back in on Sunday.

As far as the start time, I am fine with whatever time the group wants to choose. Noon is alright by me if it works for everyone else. Good luck with the pool. Shannon, what does your schedule look like for that Saturday?

Jason is with me on this business trip so I will ask him tonight. Just to let you know, Jason bought a copy of AM off of ebay and is working on the tutorials trying to get up to speed.

On a side note, how is the bulldog work going with Shannon? Hope it's going well. It looks like the next few meetings will be fun.
