  1. That is actually very good. A similar idea based around the online manual would be great. like an online moderated WIKI based around that versions help file. It would be much easier than the disjointed "search" on forums.
  2. its going to be VERY difficult to emulate the "hamon" and "hada" of the blade with materials. Decals are the way to go. There is a nice shot "both sides" of a blade here sword photos I think its quite hard to get a really nice reflective and accurate polished metal surface with AM's renderer, so why make it harder than it should be. try the decals, and remember, they can be used in many ways....
  3. modified mk2 version. this is actually proving to be quite a learning curve as i'm new to all this stuff. however, i borrowed the blue_feathers.tga from the alpha forum and modified it to create the two feathers to form the wings shown here. also had to play with the groups hierarcy to get everything working as seen. I'm gonna finish this fly now i've started so i may as well show you guys what i'm doing so you can remember what it was like when you started LOL. To come: tail feathers, spiral tinsel, hook barb, etc. might even float it on water ??. -- Keith.
  4. hi guys, don't even know if this warrants being in here judging some of the other work, but here it is anyway. I had the idea to do a dryfly now that weve got great hair. i could do with a better metal material for the hook and i'm gonna add a barb to that. the thread is a spherical combiner that is difficult to see in this shot but close up it sort of simulates thread. I did try lots of torus's but there was to much geometry and it slowed things down a bundle. The hair is not groomed, but is tapered and has a two colour gradient. The tips are slightly transparent. This is really my first go with A:M, and i hope to improve my modelling skills as i go, but any idea's on how i could improve things would be nice. thanks. -- Keith.
