  1. Hey Gerard,

The trees don't appear when I render. I don't know why this isn't working for me.

I don't have any constraints or anything, just usng the default settings.

    Thanks for the reply though.

  2. Hi,

I'm trying to use flocking to make a crowd of trees. When I apply the model to the shortcut to crowd, sometimes 1 tree appears, sometimes 2 trees appear, mostly no trees appear. The population was set to 20 each time I tried. Does anyone know why my trees might not be showing up.

I checked the mailing list database, and yes I have display particles/hair on in rendering options. :(

    version 11.0l

    Thanks

  3. Hello,

I just rigged my character with tsm. I want to move the characters feet but can't. I have the heel control and toe control bones showing. When I translate the toe control the heel control doesn't follow and the leg remains stationary. When I translate the heel control, the leg moves with the foot but the toe control bone doesn't follow.

I couldn't find an answer anywhere, I hope someone can help me.

    Thanks

  4. thanks Jack.

Kinematic constraints did the job. Much appreciated.

I decided to go with roll handles instead of bones with euler limits for the wheels and handlebars. I needed the roll like constraint for the front and back wheels to rotate the same. The orient like constraint on the bones were turning the back wheel side to side when I turned the front wheel with the handle bars.

Thank goodness for this forum, I would be tearing my hair out with angst.

I ordered the version 11 technical manual from cafe press, maybe that will help too.

    Thanks for all the help.

  5. I used to be a mac user until 3d animation became my main purpose for having a computer, and I found that software is just too limited for the mac. I love macs, they are great machines, but everyone seems to be developing for the pc and as others have said you will be missing out on some great plugins and stuff for A:M. And after using macs, the simple right click functionality in AM on pc was a joy to behold.

  6. Hmmmm,

I set up the bike using bones and euler limits, but maybe the roll handles are better, I don't know.

I have another problem though too. I am trying to get the frogs hands to stay on the handle bar and follow it when it moves. I tried using a translate to constraint but this overrides the connection between the hand and the forearm and the hands move with the handle bars but the forearms don't move as they should, the connection between parent and child is lost.

Any suggestions would be grealy appreciated.

    Thanks

  7. Hello All,

I have completed a model of a bike for my frogman to ride and am now trying to rig the bike. I am trying to apply constraints so the bike moves the way a bike should.

I was able to constrain the wheels with spherical limits so the only go around in a circle around the hub by setting the max and min latitude to -180 and 180 and setting the longitude to 0 in min and max.

I am now trying to constrain the handle bars and fork to only rotate from side to side and not up and down. I have tried several settings but can't get it. I would imagine that setting the min and max longititude to -180 and 180 and setting latitude to 0 and 0 would do the trick but when I set the max latitude to 0 the whole thing doesn't move at all.

I don't know what else to try.

There must be a way to do this. Somebody please help me out and let me know what I am doing wrong.

    Thanks

  8. Hi Casey,

We used to have a user group in Manhattan a few years ago, but it is long since disbanded. We used to meet and discuss A:M and stuff. We even had a visit from the folks at hash when they came to town for macworld.

I still know a couple of the guys. If you are interested in meeting in manhattan maybe we can get some of the old group back together. We used to meet at my friends office, but he doesn't work there anymore so we'd need to find a new spot. New jersey would be too far a trip for me, I am on Long Island, and the two guys I still know are in queens and brooklyn, so I don't know if they'd want to journey that far either.

Anyway, let me know and maybe we can get something together. Weekends would be best for me because I work on Long Island during the week.

you can e-mail me at countfrogula@yahoo.com

    talk to ya soon
