A very minor update. The hat and it's constraints still need fixing but I am currently experimenting with mouth rigs so that will happen when it happens.
Sorenson3, 344Kb, 4 seconds at 24 fps, VGA
This one reminds me of hockey cause he did a little "hat trick" - get it!?!?! He had a hat on... it did a trick... aw, nevermind.

This is a bot I modeled based on a friend of mine's illustration. You can see the original drawing here.
Considering that I did it only from that drawing I'm pretty pleased with the way it's turning out. I still have a little more shading to do but I hope you like.

what about if the bones above the dynamic one were constrained to "roll like" the dynamic one but at lower and lower percentages of enforcement as you go up the chain?
Sounds like you got yourself an assignment there.
-
Here's the project file. That should answer most of your questions.
It's basically a series of elongated toruses, each having its own bone and the last bone have the constraint applied.
I tried twisting it and it didn't act right. It just twisted the whole object at once.

I'm not sure why I created this but it looks fun. The only hand animating done was the movement of the model bone.
-
well, that makes sense.
I just they had a way that would set the bones automatically for you.

Remarks/Suggestions for Improvement: I'm curious as to when you would actually use the automatic bone assignment. In spite of the temptation I wont sing "Daisy, Daisy give me your answer do."

Hey Chris, how'd you do the background?
Those are just stock models off the v12 CD.

Here's a link to a bunch of Star wars Effects how to's.

Exercises Completed: 8 of 19 (though I've skipped 7, but I'm coming back to it!)
Date Completed: April 15, 2005
Instructor: AoA:M & Lee Iacocca
Remarks/Suggestions for Improvement: I have been doing most of the exercises so far based solely on the book but this time I watched the video also and I noticed that they didn't do everything the same. So I did a hybrid of the two.
BTW, I did a refit and mine is a hybrid car. Better mileage you know.

Remarks/Suggestions for Improvement: I know I skipped 6, I'm coming back for that one later. This one was fun trying to create a good secondary action that fit the vocals. I hope you like.

I kinda like the ignore button. The weird thing is that the person I have on my list is still being ignored when I look at a topic they've posted to.

You've really got to come up with a solution to the brain stem problem otherwise you might be looking at an R rating or worse!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.

Remarks/Suggestions for Improvement: Here's my walk. I tried to make it look intresting by adding a little bounce in his toes so they're more "flaffy". Kinda like big clown shoes.
For some reason still I have some skating going on though I really tried to get the stride length just right. It's like he has a slight forward/backward pulse going on but I'm not sure where it's coming from. Maybe within the animation itself.

Hey and then, since Steve must have so much time on his hands to do such things, have each star link to the gallery page that has their work!! Brilliant!!
-
wow, this is what i call solid work.
Thx

Huh. I thought only first-place finishers became Fellows. Is that incorrect?
No, even if you place you become a Fellow. I'm proof of that.
and NO BLINKING!!!!
Though Jon I do like the added line you have.
They could be colour coded to indicate what place they came. eg Red=win, Green=second, Blue=third, Black=fourth. If you did that you would have to have blue be for first place... Hello?!? Blue ribbons?!?
-
btw the windshield viper is there now
Is that some sort of security device where you put a snake on your car when you leave it some place?
Hmm, very innovative. What will those Europeans think of next?
-
No, no, no. That's the rig that lit the scene, that's all.
-
I think that's part of the skylight rig.

Now I'll stay up all night waiting for the damn movie that ain't put on screen for another month ++.
I saw on the news the other day that there are people already camping out in line for it in Hollywood.
I can it would suck to be inJapan for this since it doesn't get released there until July 9th!!

Remarks/Suggestions for Improvement: This one was hard for me. Getting all the poses to work together and getting the timing to look natural. His left foot bothers me a little as far as the way it lands but it's not a bad first attempt I think.

That seems rather irresponsible doesn't it. Just randomly tossing tables out windows.
What is these superheros coming to..... it's a shame really... Not to mention that he was totally using his back to left that. Barely using his legs at all.
