I have a situation where I have a rigged model without hands. Now I need to add hands and want to rig them.

I assume I need to remove the rig and re-expose the geometry bones before I can add the new geometry and re-rig it.

Anyone know how to easily remove the rig or an easy way to add a hand to an existing rig?

No absolute need to remove the current rig. Follow this general procedure: Use TSM2's Parts Builder to import hand rigs and size them to your new hand geometry. Parent the hands to your current lower arm bones. Run TSM Rigger, and you'll have hands with the TSM rig attached to the body with your current rig.
