  1. Hi Jason wasn't sure where to ask this question. I see that v18 is out and I own v17 now I could be wrong but I thought that if you bought the program that it came with free life time upgrades. Is this correct I don't want to appear greedy or anything or looking for a free lunch just curious.

I'm not Jason (obviously) but if you have the subscriptions all you have to do to move into v18 is install and activate it.

Use the same activation code that you used with v17.

That's one of the benefits of subscriptions! :)

I have no idea what you are referring to with regard to free life time upgrades.

If Hash Inc let you purchase such a thing you'll want to contact them (Jason) directly.

Hi Rodney, thanks for your response. What I bought was the box set, and with that I mean the am program on disk and it came with the extras disk and the two disk along with the manual. I believe I paid around $300 and I thought I read that it came with the benifit of free life time upgrades, as apposed to the $79 dollar yearly subscription which limited you to free upgrades for the one year subscription period. Now I could be wrong that is why I'm looking into this any help would be greatly appreciated. To clear up any misconceptions there were no deals made between hash and myself, I just thought that was the benifit of buying the program as apposed to renting it.

    Thank you

Yes, if your subscription is current you can install v18 and run it today. Copy the master0.lic file from your v17 folder to your v18 folder.

Thank you also robcat I appreciate your help.

    Hope that helps.

  5. Hi all

Well this is quite embarrassing but I'm having issues trying to activate AM. I've spent the last 15-20 minutes searching and reading but I am still stumped. First the version I bought is the lifetime not the yearly one, don't know if that makes a difference. I have AM installed but I don't see a master.lic file only a master.txt file.

When I look at the details of my account I see:

    Transaction ID

    AuthCode

I tried both of these codes but nothing. There are two other codes but I assume they have to do with the credit card.

Where do I find the activation code. *hangs head in embarrassment*

EDIT: May have jumped the gun as it shows it's still processing.....I'll check back in about an hour and see if it's done.

Really i just recieved my full version of A:M and i have 2 activation codes. one is a sticker on the front cover of the disk jacket and the other is stamped right on the A:M disk itself. funny thing though is that they are both different codes

  6. The 'Frapper' was a cool free app that Google was giving away back in... oh, 2005-ish. It was ME that started it for Hash... and it was a great database we built. Eventually, Google wanted a yearly FEE... and I guess nobody wanted to pay for the service so they took it away altogether.

ah i see Bloody google like they arent rich enough

  7. Hey hashers!

Where do all my fellow Hasher's live?

Now we can add ourselves to the USgoogle map called a 'Frapper'...

    Here's the link:

    http://www.frappr.com/hashfrapper

It's quick and easy to do, you just enter your zip-code (no email/spam).

If you wish, you can enter a blurb of text about yourself and even add a photo.

    Hope to see you there!

hi there Bigboote just thought i would let you know that the link you supplied is a 404 error

  8. Larry B and I got together a couple of times while he lived here, but he's now back in B.C. Has anyone else in Alberta (specifically Edmonton) shown up on the forums? Let me know!

hi mouseman i was in edmonton back in the eighties then moved to vancouver but now im back i live on the north end 12707 120st. why whats up man

  9. Hi,

I'm trying to persuade some people into getting A:M. I remember a video that demonstrated A:M; it gave an overview of the software, it showed how intuitive it was, showed how you can just drag/drop an image onto a model, showed examples of people's work.

Does anyone know where this can be found?

    Thanks,

    Rusty

i do remember this, wasnt it was the opening for the website i believe. i would think in archives i remember showing it to a few buddies of mine on the road and they were very interested in it.

  10. Hi all im back again, this time to stay.lolllll i was longhauling all over north america (truck driver) and now have a home and a place to relax.i have aquired an illness which forces me to be home and so i bought the full cd version of am. ok my question is, is that it just arrived today but am reluctant to install it. the reason is because at home i have a state of the art computer that i bought specificly for animation master and adobe after effects and such. now i have to go back into the hospital for several months and i want to install am on my laptop while im in the hospital, but when i come out i want it on my main computer, can this be done or no.

any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

  11. Hi A:M folks, I just received my brand new copy of animation master the full never ending upgrade version and the extras cd along with a copy of the tin man. I started out here back in 2005 I believe, then I went long hauling.i am home now or at least off the hwy due to an illness i acquired. I am now 49 but living in Edmonton Alberta Canada, and i really want to get into the 2d and 3d animations. Since i am now on what they call disability i have chosen to get reeducated in the animation field. I am hoping to start college at a school here in Edmonton called Pixel Blue, they seem to have a well organized curriculum and the courses i want. Im not into gaming or such but i am really into special and visual effects, and advertising. it seems to me there are a lot of commercials now going to animation. im not interested in trying to learn 3ds or Maya nor can i afford them so my choices are Animation Master because of its ease and the fact that im used to it and its interface. i have also purchased adobe premier suit so with all this and the great team of the helpfull folks here in the A:M forums i have no dought i will complete my new goals with ease.

Hello all its great to be back so lets have some fun.

  12. Hi all, i may be a bit out of line here or perhaps didnt read all the replies properly but i think what we are doing here is to revise or update the old manual.?????

Well as a newbie i was fasinated a few years back when everyone one was working on the door is stuck. i did it exactly as the manual stated but then i saw what other people were uploading and i was taken aback. people were adding tunnels and other iteams in fact one animator actually turned the door is stuck into an incredible version of indiana jones.

Ok my point is, is would it be possible to start with the basics then have us all creat a charactor ( like the candle), design a basic rig for it, then maybe create a scene or two ( to learn perspective ) and then basicly to act out a small animated movie. Then in future lessons we could build on this movie to enhance and get a little more creative as we go along. This way i think people could add there own personalities and they will be working on something for there demo reel. What do you think.

    thanks

    mike

  13. hey Rodney are you going to bring back that nice little diploma that you had going on a number of years back???. As a newbie (again) i remember back in 05 and 06 you had us newbies posting our work for all to see and we were able to look at everyones work and post and recieve crits, i thought that was a really good idea as it helped us to keep going and to add our own little creativity to the next lesson. Also i remember that a lot of the seasoned am users were also doing the lessons and adding there own creativity which i thought made me strive a little harder to be a little more creative. Also if memory serves you used to throw in a little teaser mow and then to keep us motivated like i do remember doing the bouncing ball after i had completed x numbers of lessons. i guess my question is , is could something like this not be implimented again, we start doing the lessons and depending on the progress of the class you set up a little teaser lesson for us???

    thank you

    mike

  14. hi all ok i am running a windows platform with the v16a version and i bought the extra cd.there is no direct link to the library but i do want to put these in my library. i did copy and paste the cd into the v16 folder but still doesnt show up in the libray can anyone help on this subject.

    thanks

    mike

  15. Okay... this is all 'as far as I know'...

The Extra DVD is (unfortunately) not set up for use with Libraries. (The previous A:M Extra CD was)

Each asset on the DVD (Project files, Models, Materials, Actions etc.) was added to the DVD more or less as it was found or arrived.

Each asset's Library Icon is contained within the asset file itself (the icon image code is embedded as part of the same text file).

If the creator of the asset didn't apply an icon to the asset then no icon will appear in the Library.

If the asset is missing in action (it's not where it's Library shortcut is pointing to) A:M cannot find the specified file and therefore cannot display the file's embedded icon. A:M places a question mark icon there to let you know the status of that asset effectively saying... "This asset is not where you are telling me it is. So, where is your file?" If A:M can find the file but there is no assigned icon A:M will display the asset's default (no frills) icon.

So the simple solution to removing a Question mark icon in a Library is to place the asset in the location where the Library shortcut suggest it resides. In cases of large Libary collections it may be easier to delete/remove your current Library and substitute a new Library that correcty captures the location of where your assets reside. In case it's important, each Library is at it's core (prior to any asset shortcuts being added) an empty text file with the extension '.lbr'.

Additional information you never asked for:

There are several things you can do here (and there are several things as a community we can do better in the future).

    - Note that you can use the assets on the DVD without the Library (championing the use of A:M Libraries when people tend not to use them is a tough battle to fight)

    - Apply your own Icons (For instance you can open the asset in a Modeling Window, Right Click and select Create Icon)

Note: You'll want to do this only after copying your DVD assets to your harddrive as you cannot change the files on the DVD! So... apply the changes to copies on your harddrive and file your DVD away as a back up copy)

    - Use A:M Libraries

    - Encourage others to use A:M Libraries

Note: I find that I am currently Library agnostic but fully support those who like those really cool icons in A:M Libraries. :)

A:M Library extra tidbit: Add your rendered images into A:M Libraries under the Images tab for easy dragging and dropping as Rotoscopes and Layers. They work best when Alpha Channel transparencies are applied!

thanks Rodney I too think i should have been sleeping instead of being up allnight playing with AM ( good thing im single or im sure i would be soon  ) Ill have to go in and see that i am using the correct path. I do like the info on aquiring a pic for the library as i believe you are correct that some contributers did not add a pic in there.

    thanks again

    Mike

  16. ( i thought the othe version was 32 bit )

Yes. Sorry. I should have said 32bit.

(I should have been sleeping rather than typing  )

thanks ill give it a try. one more thing is that i downloaded the extras cd and i put it in the v16 folder but in the tabs all it shows me is a question mark over the folders, why is this. You guys are going to regreat me coming back to am.lollllll

  17. yes i have loads of hard drive space i just bought a new system and it has 2-2tb sata 7200rpm drives, the save path i am trying to save to is in my documents i created a file for all the am projects i do. like i say i was able to save a png and it did save 930kb of the avi move but thats it.

    thanks

    mike

  18. You may experience some problems with rendering out to AVI/MOV in the 64 bit version.

For the time being I recommend using the 24 bit version for rendering to movie formats (You can't render to MOV currently in the 64bit release as there are issues with Apple's .MOV porting to 64bit). Both 24bit and 64bit can be installed at the same time on your computer of course.

It is generally recommended that you render out to a image sequence first (TGA, JPG, PNG etc) first for a variety of reasons (for instance, if the power goes out while rendering you won't lose all your rendered images and can just pick up where you left off. Recompile them as a movie once you have all the images as you want them.

With v16 you can also launch Netrender to do the work.

Hi Rodney yes i am running the 64 bit download. not sure what you mean about net render or how that works, and are you saying i need to download the 24 bit version, ( i thought the othe version was 32 bit ).i was able to save a png file of this but still no luck saving the avi file except for about 3 frames of it. i did double check and yes i have it set for 00:02:00.

    thanks

    Mike
