  1. I need a fully rigged cartoon roach that has a mafia look and feel. It needs to be wearing a wiseguy hat and be able to click a remote control and talk (needs a mouth with mouth morphs).

Hands must work (I need four hands that can be rigged and posed) - I intend for him to click a remote control and use hand gestures in the animation).

If it can be brought into Carrara Pro 8.5, I do have Mimic Pro for Carrara for making him talk.

The voice over for the roach will be that of a New York Wiseguy, so it needs to have that look and feel.

Contact me with questions and so we can discuss price.

Final format can either be for Animation Master, Carrara 8.5 Pro or Modo 901, or better yet, for all three.

    Thank you.

  2. OK. I am actually getting somewhere. I have successfully exported a FBX with one action, but the skeleton (rig) is not intact in Unity 3D (so the animation is there and the Unity camera seems to take on the action, but the model does not, for example, run.) I cannot export multiple actions in one model (for example, idle, walk, run, etc). How do I export all the actions? I drag and drop the Idle, Walk, Run, etc actions onto the model and now I want to export it to a .x file with all those actions attached. How do I do it?

Lastly, how do I export it either from .x or to .fbx with the rigging actually working in Unity 3D? I am using the direct x exporter in A:M and then Unwrap 3D 3 Pro to export to .fbx.

    Thank you for any help.

  3. Unity 3D 4.5.2 - yep. Sorry.

TY. I did not know you needed to edit the model to export to .x. I did that and there it was.

    Thank you very much.

Now if I can just activate my UU3D Pro v3 - I bought it years ago and the activation dialog won't seem to accept my code.

I wonder if that software is dead? I tried searching for an answer but just cannot find any.

I also own Milkshape, but it does not import .x files.

Does anyone know of a good utility to convert .x files with rigging and animations to .fbx?

  4. No matter what I do the DirectX exporter refuses to show in 32bit or 64 bit versions. I am using the trial version for now.

I put the AMXtex, hxt file in both the HXT folder and the root folder. Does not seem to matter. It does not show up in the export plugin area.

Without this ability I just cannot use A:M. I can convert from .x format to .fbx with UU3D Pro, which I bought years ago.

  5. I am using Unity 3D 4.6 and I am evaluating A:M v18 before I purchase. I used to use A:M back in 2005 and bought the CD, but it no longer works due to scratches and Windows 8.

I need to be able to export models I create with rigging and actions using either Direct X or FBX. I found and downloaded the Direct X exporter and put it in the correct place, but it does not show up. I put it in the 32 bit version. I cannot find a Direct X export in either 32 or 64 bit.

How can one use v18 with Unity3D?

  6. I had the same problem today, it's caused by the community window that's set to auto sign-in. I've disabled it from the registry and A:M runs fine again. This problem somtimes occurs when there is a problem with the community server, at least, that's what I think what causes this.

    Registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hash, Inc.\Animation Master V15.0\Community\AutoSignin = 1. Set this value to '0'

    Thank you - that worked!

Thank you everyone else for trying.

Anyone know of a good bowling project, ready to render, that I could "borrow"

  7. I fired up A:M this morning and after about a minute, windows makes a beep and then I get the busy mouse icon and there it sits till I close the app in Task Manager.

I updated to the latest version - still does it. It seems to me like a dialog is open and awaiting a response, but I checked - nothing else is running and no other programs are opened. I ALT-TABBED and that did not show any hidden dialogs. I tried about 10 times and it does this every single time.

Any help would be appreciated - I want to use A:M to make a bowling animation (I remember there being a bowling animation somewhere in A:M) for my son's birthday invitation.

    Thanks.

  8. Hello everyone.

It's really funny. I watched the two powerpoint slideshows available in the video manual area. The history of animation and 3D. What strikes me as funny is that one way or another, I have owned a copy of EACH and EVERY one of Martin Hash's products over the last 30 years!!! It started on my Amiga and then my PCs and apples.

I have had a love affair with 3D animation since I saw STAR WARS, Tron and The Last Starfighter. When I found out that people were using lightwave (I had a video toaster back then) to make Babylon 5's effects, I was blown away. Animation Master (then Playmation and a host of other names) was always easier to use. Since I was a proficient Corel Draw user, A:M has always appealed to me. I have been a part of every major 3D app since the inception of 3D apps. Heck, I even talked many times with Steven Worley on the phone back in the old Silver and Imagine days, as well as the owners of Imagine.

I never did get to talk with Martin, however. I was even at Siggraph back when it was in Orlando (98 maybe?) - I had a booth for my company Creative Imaging, and Martin Hash was just a few rows down. That is, I believe, the 1st time I bought a copy live and in person.

It's too bad I am not better at animation and modelling than I would like to be.

So, let me re, re, re, re, re, re-introduce myself.

My name is Mike Felker and many people on many forums know me as Karmacomposer. I am an award-winning composer and own a recording studio and production company. Check out www.world-class-multimedia.com to see what we do.

I LOVE Animation Master. I loved it decades ago and I am SOOOOOOOO glad I am back. I almost always updated my copy ($99, how could you beat it) when I would receive my reminder brochure in the mail. I was a bit too late on this one and Martin did away with the upgrade price, so I went the subscription route since I am in this for the long haul.

The reason I want to do 3D so badly is for gaming. I love making game levels, art and, of course, music scores. We have done several and plan to do many more. 3D falls into place in many areas we do, like TV commercials and multimedia. Even though I currently own Maya 5, Lightwave 9, Carrara 6 Pro, Hexagon2, Silo2, Truespace and many copies of A:M, including v15, A:M is the ONLY one I really can make things happen in. Obviously, I simply suck at all the others, but A:M really works the way I think.

So, I just want to say "Hello" again and I REALLY want to master A:M this time - I am COMMITED to learning how to model, texture and animate with it. Because we do video productions, it is interesting as heck to do real-life lighting for a project and then try and do the same thing virtually in A:M.

I am not getting any younger, so I appreciate anyone's help when I have questions, no matter how silly, stupid or ignorant they may be. I apologize in advanced if I become a pest.

I do have a question about using my render farm. I have 10 powerful computers in my office and use them with Carrara all the time (too bad I can never make anything too good in it - lol), but I am confused as to how to make use of the A:M network rendering capabilities. Being that I used to be a network engineer and computer technician, and am a computer programmer in a few languages, I am pretty technically inclined, so why this has me stumped I don't know. Is there a separate application I have to install? Thanks for anyone's assistance.

I did not know there was something in Orlando this past weekend or I would have gone to it. Darn it!!!!

I am also looking forward to helping out in community projects and would gladly lend my music scoring abilities, at the very least, if needed.

All the best to all of you,

    Mike

  9. A:M's action files may not be as universal as you think...as there are many different types of rigs, and characters differ widely. You MAY be thinking of Biovision BVH file format (BVH) Simply google BVH and you should find a repository or two (freebvh.com?)

A BVH file is an action file that you constrain your character to, no matter what rig, fully adjustable. BVH files are generally generated via motion-capture, so the action is human driven and there are generally a lot of martial arts kicks and chops.

This begs a question... Can an A:M action file be exported as a BVH?

Thank you for your replies. I do know about BVH, but did not know if A:M could import them/drag and drop them onto a rigged character. Do you know if that can be done currently?

I assume since A:M is spline based that you CANNOT import an obj or 3ds file at all, is that right? We own other models in other formats and would LOVE to bring them into A:M for animating, but do not know if we can do so and certainly would have to re-rig it (is there an easy way to rig a character, by the way?).

Thank you for your advice. It's been a long, long time since I used A:M (used it with version 3, version 8 and version 10.5) and it has changed a bit and I have forgotten the interface, so I have to re-learn everything.

  10. Hello all,

Not a newbie to A:M, but a brand new v15 user, I would like to find more commercially useable actions and models for a:m. Where would I find any (besides this forum)? I have googled this topic and the choices are slim. I am mostly looking for a repository or collection for purchase - mostly of generic useable actions and models, nothing too specific or custom (although martial arts moves would be a plus).

    Any ideas where to start?

    Thanks for your help.

    Mike

  11. Hello all.

I am a LONG TIME Animation Master user (have several manuals and CDs). I decided to opt for the subscription - I like the idea.

I installed it and went to the SUPPORT tab to see what's new. The USER MANUAL link is broken as is the TECHNICAL REFERENCE. I would assume you should fix those - even if they pointed to a web page that said WORK IN PROGRESS or something like that.

Other links that do not work: TUTORIAL RESOURCES (broken link) and A:M USER LINKS (database error)
