  1. I've been running A:M on a laptop with Windows 8 and haven't had any issues.

To transfer the license to the new computer, contact Jason.

As far as recommended specs, someone else may know. I consider what I'm currently using as underpowered for some things, mostly because it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card, but it can do quite a bit for what it is...it has a middle-of-the-road i5 and 6GB of RAM. Of course, the speed of the processor, the amount memory, the amount of video memory, having a dedicated video card and type of hard drive will affect how good your experience will be. What I think would do the job for me, would be an i7 4800MQ processor, 16GB of RAM, at least 2GB of video RAM (more would be better), 1920x1080 anti-glare display with an SSD hard drive...but you can get by with less.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you very much, I am setting up 4 PCs.

  2. Hey Rodney, I have a suggestion, why don't we start exchanging AM models?

All we need to have is an online image gallery showing what we have and when some one is interested in an exchange, just invite the person over.

With this, there is no need to talk about dollars and cents, just efforts and the exchange is purely personal.

  3. I am on my way to build a large model collection inventory in various formats, all of your comments are helpful and will be consider but I am alone, I mean my concept is to furnish future 3d artists with quality models but only in realistic type, something like documentation of the natural world just to begin with or of one can handle. Those are the things that will stay in our library not affected by time.

The fact is that one object at a time is meaningless, what if its packages of accessories that you can use to build an entire scene; aquariums, animal life cycle, out door elements, complete human form with vital organs and many more.

It will have to be a completed product that can multiply by competent users thus creating an ever evolving archive.

Sorry, this thread is suppose to be dedicated to 'nerd3d', I just get over excited. :D

  4. The same happen to me a few years ago and I am very cautious these days, I agree with the suggestions to save back up copies.

But to new users, you need to create an entirely new project and a new model then import any mdl that you've saved, this will start a clean prj.

If you are on your original master prj and save out the model as mdl, you'll notice a change in the icon display of that model in the PWS, click 'Revert' and you are on the same prj leaving the saved mdl unharm or else the prj will still affect the external mdl and any materials associated with the same prj.

The other method is save as in an un-animated action window, you don't have to 'Revert' every time you save.

If you import materials make sure you save a copy with different name, the above does not work for materials or choreography I think.

I believe this happens with abnormal save or click on thinks too fast, have other prg running in the back grd or you need to restart your computer after a long hour of work especially renderings/test render.

    Hope this help

  5. I will have sky and hill add to it, its not a real design just a big house and a small house behind it.

I think the best way is to create a reusable trees for various purpose but time consuming. At this point, I am going to make a few layers of tree leaves to mimic sprite emitter and aim it to the camera.

    Thanks for your opinions. ;)

  6. Thanks, I didn't consider using hair because the trees is at a distance and would be heavy to render, I already use it on grass and pine trees.

Julian, wouldn't the velocity change the sprite distributions? but I am giving it a try and post a render in the WIP thread.

  7. My personal copy of AM work just fine at home though, wonder if a clean reinstall will work and what really happen or missing from my office pc. When I shutdown, it prompted that openGL not responding.

If that does not work, I will have to ask for HD reformat but that is not my job, don't have the administrative rights to perform it and don't know how.

Will let you know when its done.

  8. Hey, I used to import mdl into an existing model which is why the hair poses is lost, it only work for static mdl with no material settings.

now, I will have to change to the correct method and it works just fine but have to switch between windows to refresh hair settings in the choreo, may be is due to my slow pc.

    Thanks.

  9. I know, save it as mdl but it does not retain the hair pose when I import the mdl to another prj, I haven't try importing it from choreo, also close all all windows before saving, may be that will refresh and update all the work done.

Will finalize the proccess, if you have no problems then I must be doing something wrong. Thanks again mtpeak2.

  10. I save the model with hair pose and import it into another prj but the hair poses does not appear, have you tried export and re import it?

Unless I delete everything else and save the hair model as a prj then bring in other models. Seems that is the only way to keep the hair pose with the model for now.

    Thanks.

  11. Beautifull, I like those trees, does TREEZ work in Ver11? or else I will try out in 10.5. but haven got the time to play with fur yet.

AM is for all kinds of jobs, its practical applications seems to fulfil many requirements. Thanks for sharing. ;)

  12. Hi Mr Baker, when was the launch date of AM forum? I remember in 2000 I have sent my registration card to Hash support but never ask any question before, so I rely on reading the manual and additional reference book.

Back then I don't have the convenience to access the net and have produced a few children books with it.

    Thanks.

    Edit; Is it Sept 2003?
