Thanks for laying it out like that Ed. I opened a bunch of your files last night and had a bunch of problems. I saved nothing. I got a bunch of crashing as well as missing models. Would that be fixed now if I wanted to poke around again?

Also most members of the Empire seem to be British.
-
What about TW makes him British? I never saw him as a fidgety, "Well, yes, rather, [cough] [delivers line], you see," Kind of guy.
Scarecrow, I always DID kind of see that way, but not TW.

you da man Ed!
(those kind of props?)

The director shows the scene and then talks about the storyboards that made it. I thought It applied to what we're doing here.

wow. you may never get another critique related comment on this entire thread now.

(Don't take this as a chance to start chiming in with a bunch of other poly-related wishlists)

awesome, AWESOME work! I really love that 'you know it wouldn't work, but looks like it could anyway' kind of technology here.
Texture is going to round out the boards for the hull into looking less like... pillows (I mean to say they appear soft). Another idea might be to make the edges appear a little more irregular, like aged wood. Maybe a patch-job here or there. This looks like a well-maintained craft, but you can't go adventuring and not acquire a little wear and tear.
You've modeled a lot of detail here. I bet you could make use of the new displacement mapping to really push it.
Go, go, GO!

I've pulled in Ed's sequence to look at. It's gonna take a while, but I'm going to get my data in order, probably using Ed's work as a template.

I like the idea of having one project in the root of each sequence and then individual chors saved to the Sc folders. I think that would add a level of control for me. I would be able to look in a single place and see if 75 instances of the exact same thing have been loaded or recreated by mistake. I don't think team members themselves would need to open the project. They could just open the chor and save the chor itself, not creating a new project.
I don't know what impact that design would have on lighters and technical directors though.

Here is the error I get:
Task ID is invalid. Unable to display.
As a result, I can't see my shots in sequence. I would really like to see them in sequence.

There is a little confusion here that I helped cause. There is no scene 29. There used to be. The assets that the old 29 used are what the current 28 uses, so the directory Mark is working in IS _1_02_29. It should be _1_02_28.
Mark, keep working today since you have time and tonight I will try and correct this folder issue. I will then email you so that you know when you need to update from the SVN and can start working from the correct directory.

How are we doing this?
My sequence uses one set for 90% of the shots and another two sets for the last couple shots. Right now, those 90% are using individual chors and some of them have differing props and things in them. Specifically, I have the shots with Woot and Tin Servant arguing on the drawbridge. The Tin Servant needs a front door to do a couple of slamming gags with, but we can't seem to find the right chor or model or proxy or whatever that bob used that actually has the front door. Besides that, if we did find it, chances are it was something bob made that wouldn't have anything to do with 'official' geometry and proxies.
Please spell out for me what I need to do. If necessary I will go through all 30 something of my scenes and make sure that the chors are setup according to what you tell me, if it will save work later. I just don't want to assume some way that makes sense to me, but then completely craps up the process when it comes to switching out proxies and real models.
Help me, Obi-Al, you are my only hope!

That would definitely spark some great discussion and get us thinking about the characters. Since we can't just yell across the room at each other, we've got to invent a way to get on the same page with each other.
-
Would it be a good idea to pull together what we want these characters to act like?
Like, how do they walk?
Do they have any mannerisms or peculiar gestures?
Facial ticks or other gimps?
Would you say that this character is always smiling. If so, then is it because they are happy, or just an idiot?
We have our principles, but what about guys like King Bal? Small part and simple character, but no reason we can't have fun with him.
Help me fill in some blanks here!

Yeah! You're up and running!
Are you ready for some work?

Do you know web design?
-
Nuts. Forgot about that boat anchor you have to use called a Mac.
-
Do you know where to find it?
-
You -can- load v13. You won't be able to do it forever, but for now you can.
-
Which character is on your CD?
-
Is there any chance you'll be able to upgrade to v13 soon?

You might look at the Bradbury thread on using semi-transparent spheres and the spinning llight trick -or- Yves new IBL feature. Then, since it's a still, add an environment map texture to the whole model. That would at least give the thing another look and you may be able to build off it.
It may take 6 years to render though.

If I have a file that I've just created and I want to 'Send' it, then I have to wait for a 'Receive' Cycle to finish. I don't want to do that. Any workarounds -or- thoughts on changing AM back to the way it worked a few versions ago?
