  1. Shelton. Thankyou for your kind words. I like your suggestion of rule of thirds. It was my intention to use it but forgot. I used a real basic rig I made a while back.

  2. robcat

Thanks for your comment. I will take on board what you said about lagging head movement. It is my song and me singing. 'One man' band I guess and no not caricatures just random models I made a few years ago.

  3. Hi guys and gals. I finished a couple of videos. I wish I had more time. Could easily spend hours on a few frames to get smoother animation. Other things I would like to do is change is my rig to one of the pre made AM ones. My rig feels to stiff. If I had more time I would learn more about AM particles and also add alot more texturing. I can fully understand why it takes hundreds of people to make animated movies. I want to make more of these videos when I have time and would appreciate any comments and  suggestions to improve.

    Thanks

  4. Goodday all.

I have downloaded 19g and netrender is giving error message.

I have loaded the correct project, chor, camera, output location, etc into netrender. As soon as the render process starts a error appears.

The error message says files (.act .mdl) are missing for my project.

Netrender is searching in the  c:\Program File\Hash inc\v19\Data\Material\..... for action and model files for my project.

I have not saved my act and mdl file in that location. Why is netrender searching for it in that location.

The act and mdl files for my project is saved in my 'document' folder. How do I tell netrender to look in my document folder?

When rendering from within AM there are no problems.

Hope I explained my problem clearly.

    Thanks

    David

  5. That's a fine first project! Lotta hair!

The camera angle at about 1:03 confused me it, looked like the saw was stuck in his hair but it was really in the wall behind him.

Thanks Rob, you are correct. I will fix that along with adding lighting and texturing. By the way thanks for all your tuts scattered in the forums, a wealth of info. You are a very good teacher.

  6. Made me laugh. Especially at the end.

    Nicely done! :)

If you are already up and running like this you are well on your way to very good things.

I don't know if you are looking for any specific type of feedback.

If you are, just suggest a point of interest and and I'll be glad to explore and elaborate.

As you asked for feedback I want to satisfy your request.

Keep in mind that this is only opinion... take or leave as you see fit.

A few things off the top of my head:

    - Nice music and sound effects. Very impressive actually. It all worked very well with the animation. Very good sync as well.

    - Entertaining. With every viewing I enjoyed the skit better and notice new details.

    - A few very nice poses in there. Can I recall a few from memory? Yeah... I think I can. The barber... as he motions to his seat.

... the guy getting his hair cut as he sits and then reacts. Those are the two that spring to mind easily.

    - Nice variety of props! You set the stage/environment well.

On the 'room for improvement' side: (things you no doubt know already)

Color. The wide variety of different colors were a bit distracting (making it hard to focus on any one thing) Certainly not a show stopper and I assume this was intentional.

Lighting. If you were to light this short really well... it'd be all the more impressive. I don't know your experience with lighting so I won't delve too deeply here.

Texturing. There wasn't much texturing to be seen.

Obviously these were not a focus for this skit but boy am I looking forward to when you master them!

when you do will be a serious force to be reckoned with!

    Very well done.

From someone who is just learning the ropes what can be said except.... color me impressed!

    More please!!! :)

Thanks Rodney. I take everything you said on board. I did not spend much time on texturing or lighting. Will look at adding more.

  7. Lots of fun to make. AM is awesome. Any feedback appreciated.

(edit) added some basic lighting and made less colourful. Might get around texturing properly someday.

    A variation of the first.

  8. Hi all

Is there a setting somewhere in AM to keep all the drop down menus within the properties window open/down all the time.

e.g. when selecting a bone and I want to get to the rotate z value I need to drop/click the 'transform' button then drop 'rotate' button to get to the' z' value.

Then if I choose a different bone I need to follow the process again..... etc....etc

Is there a way to keep all those values open all the time.

    Hope my question is clear.

    Thanks

  9. You did what most of us have not done. You completed something. I think that your passion for Jesus Christ inspired you to evangelize using animation and congratulation in order. I look forward to your next project as you stated on your website "Your identity and authority in Christ (Eph 1.21 and other) " What is your ETA on finishing your next animation. I hope you post updates on the forum. I know that the forum has a wealth of knowledge of animation and would love to help if you ask. With that being said , God be with you, always.

Thanks .Possibly 3 to 4 weeks for until next one is done.

  10. Welcome to the A:M Forum David!

Very nice. And with a timely message as well.

I don't know if you are wanting feedback so I'll just say that for a first animation this is an impressive effort.

Now that you've got this one behind you I assume you are already off and running on your next project?

I'd love to hear more about your experience creating the clip.

    Thanks Rodney

Yes I've started the next one. I pretty much knew nothing about animation before starting with AM. I spent plenty of time going through forums and finding tuts. I modelled everything and built my own rigs. I read Rogers book as well. Other than that I have ideas in my head that I want to animate. Hopefully soon I can find and work with people who have similar vision.

There are things for me to improve on and still lots to learn.

Hi my name is David. My first post and first clip done in AM. It took about eight months. Its a Christian based animation so if that is not your thing please don't be offended.

A little too religous and striking for me (I am not into religion but into science but I still don't see myself as an "enemy" to people who believe in God...),

but still a very nice first piece. :)

    Well done David!

    See you

    Thankyou
