Exercise Completed: Exercise 4 Its a Pitch

Remarks/Suggestions: I did this one rather quickly this morning. This is another one that I am redoing from my computer problems, so I didn't watch any videos, and I am doing it only with the book that came with my CD. I like having reference that is not on my computer screen.

Remarks/Suggestions: So far this is my favorite lesson. I did it three times, and I am very happy with how it came out. Instead of trying to make up my own pose, I took the book's suggestion and tried the poses in the book. The sad sitting pose was the most dificult. The one in the book must be rigged a little different, because I couldn't get the ears to bend right. The sitting one also had a drooping face, and the one that is leaning over has angry eyes. Even so, I am very pleased with my poses.

Remarks/Suggestions: I figured out that AVI's don't work, and the MOV file I tried to make was too big. I looked in this forum and found that people are zipping the files, so I did that. As for the exercise, I am not really satisfied with the camera angle, but the important thing in this exercise is learning how actions work on different sized characters. I think that actions are very cool, even if it feels like cheating.

Remarks: I bought Animation Master Last Summer, and now I am finally starting to take animation seriously. After some computer troubles, I am ready to start over. I only lost the first few excercises, but the practice will do me some good. As for this excersise, I guess I made it into an animation because I looked around in the forums and saw some that were animated. The first time I did this excercise moving the camera was a big issue for me, but I figured it out. Animation Master is very different from Maya and Houdini, which I have used at S.C.A.D. (Savannah College of Art and Design) which I graduated with a BFA in computer art. I can't wait until I can start making my own stuff in this program!

It wouldn't let me attach an AVI, so I rendered a still picture. Enjoy!

  5. Hi everybody,

I thought I used the compressed air correctly the first time, but when I took off and examined the heat sink, it was still caked with dust bunnies. I blasted them out, and cleaned off the existing heat sink compound with rubbing alcohol. Then I spent two bucks on new heat sink compound, applied it to the newly cleaned processor, closed it up, and bingo. I believe that did the trick.

I rendered a seven second animation in about five or six minutes without a single warning. This is a vast improvement over heat warnings from surfing the internet.

I was able to fix my computer for the cost of a can of compressed air and a small tube of Heat Sink Compound. Now I can continue with the tutorials.

Thank you for all your help.

  6. Wow!

I got a lot more replies than I thought I would. Thank you. I will try some of your suggestions. I already used compressed air, and that helped for a little while. I will try replacing some of the fans, especially the heat sink and fan module, or whatever its called. As soon as I can, I'll get to a computer store and ask them what they think. Thanks again for your advice, I'll let you all know what happens as soon as I try some of this stuff. I havent been able to do much with all the overtime being forced upon me at work. It may be a while.

    Thanks alot!!

  7. Hi everybody,

This is my second post and my first new topic. I appologise if this is in the wrong forum, but I couldn't figure out which one to post it in. My computer is having problems. I just got Animation Master Last weekend, and My computer runs the program ok. When I do anything more taxing than web surfing, I get a message alert that beeps and says that the processor zone is overheating. I don't want to render anything untill I get this fixed or buy another computer.

Does Anyone have any overheating suggestions?

If I do need to get a new computer, does anyone have any suggestons as to what I should look for?

    Any help would be apreciated,

    Steve Ellinger

  8. Hello,

My name is Steven Ellinger, and I just bought a copy of Animation Master. I also have never posted anything on a forum before. I miraculusly figured out how to add the AVATAR. Yesterday, I went to the Chicago Comic convention hoping to buy some collectables, and I saw the Animation Master Booth. It made me think, wow, That's a great price for a package that can achive such professional looking results. I took a short walk around and ended up turning back around to ask more questions. The fact that the Hair tools were included was the biggest selling point. I graduated with a BFA in computer art from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and have used programs like Maya and Houdini. I left school, and now I have been working in a factory for the last 2 years. I haven't done much animation in that time and I want to get back to it. I spent most of today just going through the website, and I will probably spend tomorrow with the program. It will probably take me a while to get used to the program, but what I've seen on the site is amazing. I am excited to see what I can do with it.

I will do The tutorials in the book today and tomorrow. I am also very interested in Dynamics on characters.

I realize I've probably been rambling, so I'm going to stop now.
