dark jedi i emailed u the gmail account. Try to send as soon as possible.

thanks those are a couple good ideas (the teal and red windows are not final in this picture... at that point i forgot to drop my texture into them) So you think i shud set a focal length (which i havent done) close to the camera and then the distant part of the ship will look a bit blurry and add a bit of depth?
-
hmmm seems like alot of effort for just fog
looks like very little effort actually. Just click and set value. Doesnt get any easier then that.
-
well ive got a dome in there for the space and theres 2 holes at the domes poles but they r rarely seen by the cam (for this reason i keep the cams colour black) but i cud get rid of it. So all i have to do is simply go to the cams options and type in a value for fog? My cam moves alot so i guess i shudnt use an image, just the plane old fog. I feel a bit hesitant to try it out because im not shure how much it will slow render time down and i also really like how crisp and clean the render looks. But i will give it a try tomorow. Do u know how much it slows the render time down?
-
well i must render the first scenes tomorow since it is the first deadline. Do u think its worth trying to add in the fog using the camera? This image u speak of is it already in the program libraries or do i have to produce my own image? I really little time so i need a way that wont take long. I agree with being careful with the layers to hide the 2dness of the fog. Ill be careful where i add it. Possibly i wil make it show up more and more as the battle goes on? THere could be more debree floating around after ships have been exploding. All i need is a quick and easy way to do it that wont take more than an hour to figure out and apply to the shots.

to add fog or "dust" can i just turn the fog function on from the camera? Does this always equally distribute the fog or can i make clumps of it? Are there any other easy fast ways to create clumps of dust?
-
No for this ship i didnt post any progress. It took forever to build and texture it and i kinda forgot about posting. Didnt have enuf time to ask for feedback. Glad u like it.

does anyone know what it means when the purple camera boxes dont show anymore when im in choreography. I go to camera mode and a cuple of my cameras arent showing their purple boxes. Will the program still know to render in the "box" that isnt showing anymore. In some other cameras, as i scan thru the scene, the purple box appears and dissapears and then appears again.

Well we actually have seven lights in this photo. They are all sortof lined up on a flat plane, but i wanted it to look realistic and like it was comming from a sun. Do you think theres too much shadow? How do you suggest we would do clumps of space dust? (4 bright lights on the one side, and 3 dim lights on the dark side possibly reflecting off a nearby planet)

just a sneak peak of a nearly finished render!!! Model by woloshyniuk, Dark jedi models comming soon.

i cant get the project to work. Can someone send me an alpha channel prj (v12) that i can pop my explosions into and render? The one he gave me is kinda acting odd. Thanks for the help. I just need a simple project that has the alpha channel option available when i go to the advanced render options
-
GREAT GREAT GREAT! Exactly what i was hoping to hear. I remember seeing the alpha channel but i dont remember where i go to turn it on.. Also, what resolution do u think i shud render the explosion in so i can make it shrink and grow? And what resolution do u recommend for rendering all regular scenes? Thanks so much you are a life saver
-
so render explosion in choreography by itself with lots of frames and alpha (i dont know wut that is), then stick the video image into an existing choreography and the movie file will play inside the choreography? This is an idea i had yesterday and you seem to understand it better. It sounds like it will work, but what if there are objects behind the explosion? Will the model that the video file is playing on be seen if objects are behind? Cuz when i render the explosion first, it will obviously have a background attached to it. Is there a way to rotoscope or cut out the background? Is that what the alpha channel does? Im not shure what the alpha channel is used for
-
good thinking, i was considering this but it would not work for 99 percent of my shots since i have tons of different models in each scene it. It would take absolutely forever to scale down everything for each explosion and zoom in just right. ALso, much of the time, the explosions are not the focal point of the scene and they are in the background making it impossible to do this.
-
we've tried that as well. The problem is that it is impossible for us to change the size of each different sprite emitter at the same ratio. so in the end the explosion looks way way different. This is because all the percentages that are shown in the properties are not shown. They all just say 100 and we have found out that those are not the true values of each property of the different sprite emitterrs. If i multiply each size by 10 in each emitter, the explosion looks very different (not in a good way)
-
thanks that helps the slowness problem while working in choroegraphy.. Do you have any idea how to enlarge the explosion? It is too small compared to the objects that must explode. We cant just click and drag the emitting sphere of the explosion because this makes the explosion spread out rather than enlarge. Any help would be awesome because we are out of time trying to figure out all these problems.
-
yes we will eventually, when we make the movie. But for a while we will be working on something else
-
Dark Jedi and myself are no longer working on the starwars project, atleast not until june probably. We are getting a bit bored with it because it doesnt take too much creativity. We may be starting on another project which we will make up entirely by ourselves. Sorry to all of you who were excited to see it, but you havent seen the last of us. Hopefully we will have another short film well on the way in a few weeks.
-
ya between the 2 of us we got everything to do from animations to sound and editing. We can handle it but cant quite fit in learning how to rig.
-
yah that may be tough but he sure looks sweet now.
-
car looks very good so far. Keep up what you have been doing on it and im sure it will turn out great
-
does any one have experience using the hash 2001 skeleton? We need a rig but if we cant find someone to help we may have to give in and use that one... Is it any good or should we make sure to find a custom rig?
-
so you are peicing all of the seperate sections together in a choreography? What would happen if you tried to eventually put them into the same model? Beacause i also am making a large model and i plan to put all sections into one model once done, do you suggest just doing it in choreography instead?
-
besides the spelling, it looks not too bad so far. Is this thing supposed to be as big as the ones from war of the worlds or are they human sized?

What effects does multi pass have when rendering screenshots or scenes? Ive never tried to do a multi pass. will it make the shots look better and how much longer does multi pass take than with no multi pass? (right now some frames are taking 30 mins)
