  1. Hey Rodney,

Thanks for such a fast critique - it is all welcome. Feel free to email me anything else at my address (on the cover page).

I'm with you on alot of what you said. After I collect some feedback I plan to do another draft. Milly's story is at the top of the list. I think I want to SEE her adventures a bit more, rather than just hear about them. I like your rescue scene idea. Over all building the proper climax at the end, is well what it's all about!

Plans??? - I won't post specifics here, because I know that would turn this thread into a "that can, or can't be done" kind of thing. Lets just say that every script dreams of being a movie.

  2. Thanks for the encouragement! My original face mask, eyes and face were alot lighter in splines. Then I added the mouth - OK, the mouth area needs detail.

Then I tried to turn the face into a nice round head - OH BOY!

Then I modeled the ears and attached them...thats when things got messy.

I am really glad you all like the overall look though - I was going for cute and sympathetic - the poor bear, after all, he spent most of his life, in my story, wired to the front grill of a garbage truck as a hood ornament!

  3. Hi everyone,

This is my first attempt at modeling anything like a face. I think I have to many splines, probably all in the wrong place. Things really got away from me when I attached the ears. Can I improve on what I have, or should I start from scratch again. I really learned alot just getting here!

  4. 20 years ago that quote might not have been so out of context ;-)

nowadays, this 3d stuff is about as an addictive drug as I can think of - 5 lost hours on the computer and "look honey, I made a cube!"

All my systems in the past have been AMD ones - generally I have been fairly happy and I got a lot of bang for my buck. Certain stability issues in the past have pointed me back toward the Intel world - as with any system it is a matter of taste and the right combination of components. I don't even think that it is really the CPU choice for me - more about the supporting chipsets.

Anyway thanks for the info. Recently I have been using AM on my wifes computer - a Compaq AMD 3000+, it was not that expensive and it is OK (doesn't seem as fast as it should be). I put in an older ATI 9200 video card (better that the built in video), but I notice a few odd display glitches - weird stray pixels when moving objects around - and sometimes parts of the wireframe seem to disappear when rotating. probably a display setting issue. If I was going to use this system in the future I'd try to sort it out - but I onto a bigger and better computer world as soon as those post holiday sales kick-in.

  5. I am about to build a new PC system and I was wondering if there is any hardware issues I should be concerned with regarding AM. I am an INTEL fan on a bit of a budget - thus far I have chosen to go old school - Socket 478

    CHAINTECH "9CJS ZENITH" i875P Motherboard

    Intel Pentium 4/ 3.2E GHz

    2GB of DDR ram

    AND

CHAINTECH nVIDIA GeForce FX5700LE Video Card, 256MB

Does AM like Nvidia - would this be a good card considering it is only $100.00?

Any issues with RAM - does AM have any quirks with ram above 1GB?

    Any other interesting hardware concerns?

I have also "played" with a dual Xeon system based on Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz with EMT 64, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Technology.

with only 1 GB of ram (to save money, and offset the cost of the MB (IWILL)

Ultimately my "bread and butter" comes from video editing and effects.

    Premiere Pro

    After effects

    Cinema 4D

but my pleasure comes from HASH

  6. I am a Newbie to AM modeling, but I have been working on a similar thing - that is a mechanical ball joint for a doll character I want to create. I would use this joint in slightly modified versions for elbows, knees, wrists, ankles - fingers and toes.

The references I have been using resulted from a "antique doll joint" search I did on google. The object in this case is molded plastic - thus the joint is a bit more "organic". Anyhow, I am struggling with just making basic closed 1/3 sphere primitives from scratch...after about 5 trys I think I get it!

I plan to post my results as soon as I get something far enough to be critiqued.

I must say that I am greatly intimidated by spline modeling, but I think I might get the hang of it!
