  1. that's very interesting. I never really took a look at the swarming and flocking and things, like how versatile is it? is it something you could make to have an army approach or something?

Yeah you can use the crown to make an army or place shrubs around (as the manual suggested).

  2. That's a fun looking test. Looks like you got the live and CG pretty much in synch.

I'm wondering if the shadowless live footage is making the composite harder or easier to make convincing. Tricky.

You might try some squares of stiff Simcloth and blow those around with "forces". that might get you a more realistic paper appearance, maybe.

In truth I think the sync was more luck, I had a few glitches at first so the easiest method was to add the paper to the swarm after I had the movement in place.

Out of habit I turn off shadows as my old computer took a long time to render, I need to start practicing with them since this computer can handle these things. Also I will try out the Simcloth some time.

  3. I am trying to mix some live action but when I load a new rotoscope it only appears as a white screen, I can click on render mode and see it but makes it hard to add my CG when I am unable to see and move an object at once.

    Anyone had this before?

  4. Thanks I actually have a project I need a catapult for...of course this looks too good to match the rest of my work but I can also use to "attack" my neighbors and other fun things. (I got lots of spare time right now)

  5. I have been trying to combine some live action clip, when I place the clip in as a rotoscope I see a white box covering the screen. Clicking render mode will show the frame with the clip but I can not see it when I am trying to adjust the models.

Now I am not able to see the clip at all.

I have tried different video formats but it is not showing any improvement.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  6. This may not be the most original idea but I have a concept where two friends that get trapped inside a RPG video game.

The story that plays out in my head has started to take a bit of a dramatic turn even though at first it was meant to be an excuse to reuse the same monsters for random battles and gags I still find funny where the characters are not shocked an twist like the apparent villain was not the ultimate villain.

I also have a story that I am putting together to submit to comic publishers but I would much rather see on screen which involves villains like an army with limbs from various monsters and a sorcerer that wants to destroy the world believing that will make him the most powerful being in the afterlife.

I got a lot of spare mental time at work so villians are fun to write when annoyed at people around me.

  7. I think the model is a good start, no it doesn't look like Aura, but you are good at the modeling. Start with some small projects and work your way up to this.

If your like me though you wind up with lots of small projects that grow too big. But I'm lazy.

  8. I think a layer for that purpose is supposed to Ambient 100% too?

No, I just hit the flat shaded and it worked fine. I know some how I have been able to place an object behind the layer so that a model can walk behind it but have not been able to do it again.

I would like to make a pic of me with some gnarlly looking wings that wrap around me.

If anyone knows what I am getting at please help. I am sure there is a way to add geometry to a photo so that models can be placed around them.

Having them shake hands with a person or wrap a model around.
