  1. A funny concept has occurred but it sounds like

I am most likely to pick up a used P C WINDOWS 10 tower

(with the specs you have so kindly mentioned)

from a gamer who wants cash for his her upgrades

    and call that my A:M

    Thanks many times again

    Cheers

    Bruce

  2. If you are after a desktop, these are my current recommendations:

    Highend:

    - CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Boxed mit Wraith Spire 8-Kern (Octa Core) CPU mit 3.00 GHz, Boxed mit Lüfter

    - GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 560 Gaming OC 4 GB OC

    - Mainboard: ASUS PRIME X370-PRO

    - RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX Schwarz 16GB DDR4 Kit (2x8GB) 3000MHz C15

    - SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250 GB

    - Powersupply: Corsaid VS-Series 550W

    - Case: Antec Three Hundred Two (this really is not too important... you can use anything you want)

    - Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S (only if you want to overclock... which you may want to do... if not, the boxed cooler will do very well)

    Best regards

  3. Hello

    I appreciate your suggestions.

I hope to hear about details Graphics cards which meet the requirements of this program .

I read on the product page " mid-range gaming card "......any details ?

    Topic

graphics in desktop is in my next research

I do need a specific on minimum graphics requirements for the current A:M ....more like brands test bench

and details about computer with proper card preinstalled

Sounds like I need a gaming computer ....yes ?

    Also

What exactly are you using as a desktop in terms of detailed specs

which interface with Animation Master ?

    For desktop and laptop

I looked in the system requirements

    " Graphics Card:
"Any mid-range gaming card will do."

Again I am looking for more specifics .

Lastly the portability factor is important but cost has a ceiling .

    My conclusion

I seek a potable laptop or desktop with fast gaming graphics and 6-8 gigs of ram ...I think.

    Thanks again for your help.

In order to use the latest version of AM

    I am investing in a new Laptop,15.6", with i7 Quad-Core.CPU 2.2 -3.1GHz, 8GB RAM, 750GB

I just need advise on the best operating system.

    Thanks for any advise .

If you haven't bought the computer yet, consider something with a real number pad on it.

The number pad is huge time saver for navigating the views.

What particular suggestion for a computer do you have in mind ?

  6. To see which SSE instruction sets your intel chip Mac has, open Terminal and type or copy/paste the following: sysctl machdep.cpu.features

Thanks . my old 2006 mac pro lap top says

    " sysctl machdep.cpu.features

    apple-3:~ ew$ sysctl machdep.cpu.features

machdep.cpu.features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL VMX EST TM2 SSSE3 CX16 TPR PDCM

  7. As of August 2006 Apple announced and sold only intel chips

my laptop has a 2.33 GHZ INTEL CORE DUO

THE MAC PRO TOWER HAS two dual-core Intel Xeon Woodcrest at 2.0, 2.66, from 2006.

My imac has an intel chip from 2008 .

I guess I am looking for a AM version that worked on Mac computers ten years ago

  8. SSE4 is a set of instructions that were added to the standard PC "Intel" CPU in 2006

SSE4.2 is the above with some additional instructions added.

Adam, do know exactly what CPU you have in your Mac?

In my MAC Pro Tower It has the standard two dual-core Intel Xeon Woodcrest at 2.0, 2.66, from 2006 .

I am fine for now working with an older version of AM.

once I pay for a new subscription

Later ,I will get the lap top or tower (PC or Mac) that matches the appropriate specs for the latest version of AM....and pay again.

  9. Hey Bruce, welcome back!

I'm not sure if Snow Leopard will work with the latest A:M, but if it doesn't, we might be able to find out what version was the last one that supported it. Depending on how old your tower is, you might be able to upgrade to a new enough version of OS X to use the latest A:M. I'm running El Capitan on my 2008 Mac Pro.

I believe the A:M subscription grants you access to older versions of A:M.

I'm very comfortable using the Mac version and I've made three short films with it, but I do know that some people have expressed frustration and moved over to the Windows version. There are certainly instances where the Windows version comes out on top. For awhile, I actually ran Windows using Parallels on my Mac so that I could make use of the Windows version without having to switch computers and it worked fairly well, but I'm so used to using the Mac version that I found myself using the Windows version less and less and couldn't justify the extra expense.

I'm using a late 2015 iMac for my main machine and I use my 2008 MacPro to render.

    Thanks!

    This is very helpful !!

I have an iMac ready to load with any os needed .

I leave my older platforms AS IS

    So

I like te idea of a modern best version of AM for

    the iMac

    and

An old Mac version for my MacPro tower

I am planning some 2d projects as well as 3d .

    Thanks again .

    Bruce

  10. Hello to everyone .

    I am Bruce Morgan.

I do music composition and art work .

I aim to do graphic novels and animation shorts .

I met the Hash family and Martin at Los Angeles conventions in 2006 .

It was a wonderful experience !

The short animations I saw had high quality .

In 2005 I was talking to Jo Williamson about his Hunter animation online .

There just seems to be no limits to the capability of an independent artist using this program AM (is what I call it)

Now I am back hoping to use a Mac Tower with OS 10 .6.3

I will read the recent notes and upgrade after I understand what platform I need .

    Cheers

    Bruce

  11. Hey Bruce, its great to see you posting here.

I can only speak to my own experience and haven't used Macs at all.

There are more A:M users on Windows than Mac but its been that way all along. I've found A:M works on my WinXP machine very well.

Vista on my laptop took awhile to track down specific display driver updates. Running on 1GB RAM also took its toll. Vista really needs 2GB minimum. Most computers probably don't come with less these days.

Bottom line, Vista needs more resources than that little first-generation Vista-ready laptop could deliver. If you have a newer system you'll be fine.

Hash won't be on the Siggraph. Martin thinks (I tend to say he is right) that Siggraph is dieing.

I believe the general consensus is that its turned into a job fair.

It is actually more affordable and better for me to get a pc box with vita or xp and at least a dual core processor like an hp or an acer and just work the way you guys recommend

so when i get the upgrade ill go pc

  12. Is there a wayto retrieve info on customers other than the original registration number ?

You really dont' need that anymore. The current plan is a download/one year license for $79 whether you've owned it previously or not.

    great this helps

    Cheers

    Bruce

  13. I am getting restarted with AM and wish to use my mac pro lap tops .

Can you tell me if am works best on vista ?

or on the current mac operating sytem?

Also -i have a hard time keeping track of my old account info and I wish to renew my subscription early this year .

Is there a wayto retrieve info on customers other than the original registration number ?

    Comment

You guys are still my favorite for 3d animation since Maya has all those expensive ever changing plug ins -it is just not friendly to the solo animator ,

Cheers and thanks for a response .

    Bruce

ps 1 I can not wait to get restarted esapecially with the online tutorials .

ps2 where will th ehash team appear this year sigraph ?

  14. Greetings

My interests and aspirations range from photorealistic to animation which is aimed to look like period animation .

I produce independant film features .

I love the spirit of the Hash Team .!!

I met Martin and many of his associated at Siggraph .

They are very commited to helping individual artist animators to tell a story !

I just recieved and loaded AM 2007 .i am at the start of a new period in my amination training and I would like to be rgarded as a complete NEWBIE!!!

.It appears that much of the resource referred to is online and unlocked by use of the extras disk is that correct ?

You have a refrence in the Am Manual to" the art of animation master " is this available free on line or must I buy an extra book

    Thanks for a reply

    Regards

    Bruce Morgan
