Good clear plastic material?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a good clear plastic material, or ideas for the settings for one? I've tried all the ones that come with AM, I thought Perspex would work but it is a bit smoky. The only thing that comes close is "fake glass". I'm trying to make one of those domed lids like you see on a slurpee. I've got the shape down, now it is a matter of getting the material setting.

Hi Lee. Welcome to A:M!

If you could you show a shaded wireframe of the model I could make better suggestions after I see how it's put together.

Hi Lee,

I got this clear plastic effect by making the lid 85% transparent and setting a white specular with the specular size set to 25%

Then I added a 5% roughness and got this

Just a small try... maybe of use.

Best regards

PS: Keep in mind: A material without a surrounding is always pretty boring. Give it something to work with like lights, shadows, reflecting objects, etc.
