Installation Permissions issue?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I attempted to install 18p on one of my PCs and came up with this error

---

Error opening file for writing:

C;\Program Files\Hash Inc\V18.0\FileIO_64.dll

---

I have had no issue installing updates on this machine before, and 18p has installed fine on two of my other machines. I ran as an administrator, but I am not sure if there is some other thing effecting my permissions that might cause this error.

Any advice is appreciated.

Charles

Error opening file for writing:

Idea... a complete shutdown and restart before running the installer.

Perhaps the file was still open somehow in some lingering process.

Just to mention it: I have to translate the names (since my Windows version is in German), so there may be little differences in namings, but I think you should find the entries easily enough.

I assume that you restarted your computer already and it did not work out, right?

If so, RMB-click on the file in the explorer, go to "Properties" and click on "Security".

In there, click on "User" in the upper window and have a look the user rights in the below window. Is there an indication, that you have Full access with that user?

Try the same with all the other users.

If one of them does not have that, click on the "Edit" button and set the access level for each user in there.

Click on OK and try to start A:M again.

Did it work out? If not, go back again and go to the properties > security again. Below there should be a button "Advanced".

Click on it. Under Access give your user the owner-rights for the file. If that worked, try again...

I hope it helps.

See you
