One bone two smartskins

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

currently I am sort of very active, because after long time working with another app returning to AM feels realy rejuvenating!

Regarding my problem:

Is there any rule how many smartskins can be on one bone?

I am asking because i managed to put two on one bone, but currently

it seems as if AM lets me only use one and no more.

Cheers

Heiner

You can get conflicts with multiple smartskins if not paying attention.

Here's what Robert Holmen said concerning multiple smartskins:

Multiple Smartskin keys work best when they are evenly spaced, for example at

-90, 0, 90

or

-80, -40, 0, 40, 80

The fewer keys you can get away with, the better.

i do not think he is talking about keys but actual two smartskin / relationships, right? i think that is not meant to be used in that way. in general you can put anything you want to animate in one sm.

i am not sure what will happen if you really use two of them.

see you

You can have more than one smartskin on a bone. Just do another "New>Smartskin"

I can't recall a good reason for having more than one but someone came up with one once and it is possible.

Smartskins can control more than CPs, of course. Almost any parameter can be linked to the rotation of a bone via Smartskin.

Hi there,

yes, I am talking about two smartskins, and no, the New-->New Smartskin option is not working. It was working once but now, i am not able to repeat putting a second Smartskin onto the same bone :-(

Cheers

I just tried it, I was able to make one Smartskin that moved CPS and another that changed color, both controlled by the same bone.

Can you tell us more about what you are trying to smartskin?
