Just recieved this notice from Kinetic School of Animation:

 

Hey folks, I know this is last minute, but I'd love for you to join

us today for a FREE Webinar with David Wolter, a story artist at

Dreamworks at 12:10pm. We'll be talking about his short film and

his process as well as how he started and how you can make your

own animated film as well!!

 

If you can't join us. Please email a question for the Q & A if

you'd like, to kineticsoa@gmail.com. We'll be picking 3-5 questions

for David to answer toward the end of the broadcast! There's only a

That was some really short notice but I'm glad I got to be there.

Some nice tips and experience was shared.

 

The video is suppose to be posted by next Monday so for those that missed it hopefully you'll be able to see it next week.

It was nice to see some familiar faces there. :)

Most interesting comment... Story Artist is really the only job left in animation in the US where you still draw.

 

Also interesting that they (Dreamworks) have a whole department tasked with turning their storyboard drawings into animatics. That sure would be helpful. I remember trying to do that for TWO.

The webinar interview with David Wolter has now been placed online for those who were unable to attend:

 

 

In some ways this will be more optimal than watching live because images have been added that were not in the original webinar.

I liked his idea of scoring your shots for difficulty, then doing the medium ones first, then the hard ones, and then the easy ones last.

 

Yes! I liked that too. In fact, I liked it enough to share with someone else via email. :)
