Douglas Ferrin
I remember a couple of months back someone was working on a water rig and there was an example movie that was very cool. I was wondering if the creator of the rig finished it. I was also wondering basically how it works. Thanks, Doug
itsjustme
Here is the thread for Mark Skodacek's Ocean Rig. Hope that helps.
Douglas Ferrin
Thanks it's just you (ok if I call you David?) I'm wondering how the thing works. If I'm not mistaken there is only one instance of the grid model in the chor, but there is obviously a much larger grid in the chor. Plus an extra layer. If you have any insight I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Doug

Thanks, Doug David is my name, so I'd better get used to it. Here's Mark's instructions: Use the ocean tile model to modify the surface properties and materials only and use the ocean generator model to adjust the amount of tiles and the waves. When adjusting the waves in the user properties of the ocean generator model, there is a lag/refresh issue, just refresh the chor window for the changes to take affect. Adjust everything in the "Properties" of each model, not in the Choreography...if I'm reading that correctly. It seems to work that way on my end. Hope that helps, Doug. Douglas Ferrin
Thanks David. Yes, I suppose you should get used to your name if you haven't already. I'm glad you sent those instructions. Still it seems strange to me, how it works. Do you get it? Doug
mtpeak2
The ocean rig model uses a combination of expressions and constraints with different lag settings. The ocean generator model uses action objects (ocean rig) to tile the model for multiple instances of the ocean rig model.
Douglas Ferrin
It sounds simple but I can see you put a massive ammount of thought and energy into it. It would take me a year to do a rig like that. It's really great and it's very elegant. Thank you for making it and for making it available.
