mschoenhals
hey all, I've got this pudgy bald warrior guy with armoured shoulder pads and I want to rig it so when his arms get raised above shoulder height, the pads tilt with the arms. Any ideas on how I can rig this? thanks, Mike
itsjustme
Those shoulder pads look like you could just assign the shoulder bones to them and it would work fine, Mike. What rig are you using?
mschoenhals
I'm using the 2001 skeleton rig; but when I lift his arm it passes right through the pad. Any ideas? 3DArtZ
Post a picture of the problem. It might just require adding a bone as a child of the shoulder bone to orient like the bicep and shoulder. you would assign the shoulder pad control points to this new bone. mschoenhals
So here it is. The pad is assigned to the shoulder currently. Is it possible to "orient like" both the bicep and shoulder? 3DArtZ
Pretty ez to fix this, and there are multitude of subtle changes you could make to each solution. 1. would be to smartskin 2. would be to add a bone with a percentaged orient like 3. a combo of 1 and 2. I was hoping you'd show us a picture with your current bone setup/splines though... I would just add a bone that is the child of the shoulder with orient like the bicep at a precentage. If you wanted to get crafty you could add 2 bones to the pad with them both orienting like the bicep at different percentages....
itsjustme
You could also use cloth.
mschoenhals
Thanks very much for your help all! I went with the smartskin and percentage orient like and that seems to work best.
