flashawd
Hi - I have used the 2001 rig to rig the 5 characters that I have created, and it worked fine, but now I need to learn how to rig a non-stardard character. Is it possible to modify the 2001 rig to the extend to rig this dinosaur character that I created? Any suggestions on what direction I need to go next would be much appreciated. Thank you - Eric
itsjustme
Is it possible to modify the 2001 rig to the extend to rig this dinosaur character that I created? Sure, it would take some modifications, but it could be done. Any suggestions on what direction I need to go next would be much appreciated. In my opinion, for what it's worth, the Quad Squetch Rig would be the way to go...but I'm biased. The Quad rig already has a tail, long neck and legs set up the way you should need them...although you will probably have to change the front legs of your dinosaur (I don't think that would be a usable set of front legs for a creature). Just my two cents. Hope that helps, Eric.

flashawd
Hi David - I decided to first try it with the 2001 rig since I am familiar w/ it. The dinosaur has 3 leg section, and the rig has 2 - should I add another bone in their for each leg or just work w/ it how it is? Thanks. 3DArtZ
This model will be tuff to rig not because rigging is hard, but because the limbs would never work on a real creature... dino whatever. Especially the arms. Not to take anything away from your work. Looks pretty good. But when you sit down and look at it, it just would not be able exist in reallife. As far as the rigging, it seems like you want to use your own stuff... I would just suggest to try and rig it yourself. Post your questions as you go. Someone will jump in to help ans. them. In the end you'll see its not all that tuff. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com
largento
There's not really an extra bone. You're just mistaking where the ankle is. :-) From the top, it goes: thigh, calf (very short in this case), foot (very long in this case), toes. flashawd
I actually used the 2001 rig and put an extra bone in there, which I did before I read your post largento.. that would have been easier. It didn't come out half bad - I am smart-skinning him now - I'll post a pic when I am done - thank you everyone for posting.
flashawd
Thanks again for the help - he rigged up pretty good using 2001 modified a bit. Gotta play around a bit more w/ the smart-skinning, but thought I would post anyway. Thanks - Eric
