Hi Everyone,

I've posted Part 1 (of a three part series) of my free Character Rigging tutorials entitled: "Rigging Basics" at my web site.

Link to the "Rigging Basics" index.

I want to share what I have learned so far about rigging in A:M with everyone that wants some help in the area.

I've written these tutorials with the complete rigging novice in mind so if you don't know anything about rigging you characters in A:M then these tutorials may be of some use to you.

I'll be making minor revisions to this section in the next few days so if you spot any areas that need some clarification or correction, please let me know and I'll do what I can to tweak it. Thanks.

Take care.

Thanks everyone,

Thanks a lot for the compliments.

That looks like a great resource. Even if someone sticks to premade rigs I think it's helpful for them to know a little about how they do what they do.

I agree with that.

Rigging is one of those topics that we all should know at least a little about but references on the subject are sparse.

I've never been able to find many references on rigging but when I did they all seemed to assume that I already knew something about it. I decided that when I was comfortable enough with rigging that I would write some tutorials for people that don't know much about it but would like to learn.

So, here we are, Part 1 is done and now I have two more parts to go...

I don't have anything from that but have you viewed these A:M films videos?

(I can't get this one to play, but it is supposed to be the same part 2, but with better audio sync:

Very nice basics. Be prepared to take notes while watching.

Not sure at what level you need.

this site is not up at the moment, would anyone happen to have any hot material from it to share?

it sounds good. need a tut. i've the nice piggy johnl3d helped me with, to dissect and study fan bones,

but i'd like some basics.

Hi dblhelix,

(Wow! It's been three years?)

I'm going to try to have my site back up in the next couple of weeks.

I'll let you know when I get it done.

Thanks.

Nancy to the rescue!

(it's Superhero Sunday; there's been cops'n'robbers. for real. no not robbers, breaking&enteringers. at the neighbour's.)

Not sure at what level you need.

good question, but this is probably perfect. Homeslice makes such good sense.

he had some good pointers on finding information on this site a while back;

tried to recall them when searching the huge post with collected resource links and all links for 'rigging' failed.

this will do nicely, thank you!

thank you so much for helping!

i hope it's not too much, maintaining a site takes resources. maybe you'd consider uploading selected material on this site also?

only thinking of your superhero workload, that's all!

I have my site back online now so the 1st part of the tutorial is back up.

I apologize for taking as long as I have getting back online.

There is not much else posted besides the rigging tutorial at this point but I will be updating my site on a more regular basis now to keep things moving.

Take care.

yay! You might also upload them to A:M films so they can be preserved for posteriority (in case of another site lapse).
