Paul Forwood
Hi. Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions as to how I should go about rigging an object that is suspended by two chains. The object must swing in the wind as naturally as possible. I'm not sure how to go about this so that the dynamics will work correctly. If it's not possible I'll just do it by hand. Thanks. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 11, 2006 Hash Fellow Share Posted October 11, 2006 how heavy is it? is it pulling the chains tight? How far apart are the chains?
Paul Forwood
The object is a hanging sign and the weight of the signboard will keep the chains tight. The board must be able to swing naturally.
Krazyman
There is a dynamics constraints video, entitled Tech talks 3-Dynamic constaints. Its on this forum, somewhere. It's good, free and very informative. I don't know the location in the forum, but here's my bookmark link to it... http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...amp;hl=techtalk
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted October 12, 2006 Hash Fellow Share Posted October 12, 2006 I'm guessing you need more complex motion than swinging back and forth, but if that was all, one or two bones would do it: [attachmentid=21344] [attachmentid=21345] swingingsign.mov swingingsign.zip
Paul Forwood
Thanks, guys. I'll take a look at both.
