jakerupert
I tried Shaun freemans fanbonetutorial from 3Dworld and run into a problem: When I test the fanbones in an action, they dont show the effect of there enforcment percentage, though I have definetly set it. Am I missing something here? Must I activate the enforcement somewhere else also? Jake?
heyvern
I have not seen the tutorial myself but... If the fan bone constraints are in a pose then there should be a pose to turn on the pose sliders window in the PWS. If this isn't visible select "Show Pose Sliders" in the menu...uh... somewhere... I forget exactly where... easy to spot though. Vernon "!" Zehr
jakerupert
I have set the pose to on there, but still enforcmentvalues show no effect. I tested this with a simple project with thress bones and the same. No enforcment. I dont get, what I am missing here, Frankly I am quite frustrated now. Sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Grrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Urrk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heyvern
Okay let's back up... When you say you see no enforcement values taking effect... are the bones moving and not the mesh? You assigned CPs to the fan bones, correct? Are the bones not moving at all when the pose is turned on in the action? If you did this with a "simple" project and it doesn't work... sounds like "user error" (no offense intended, I have "user error" all day long). You may have missed a step somewhere. In the model create a pose... assign constraints to fan bones... set the enforcement for each... Okay... are the bones all stacked on top of each other? Could you be assigning the same constraint to the same bone by accident? I have done that myself numerous times... thought I had one bone selected... had another one... I'm just looking for options. 3DArtZ
Jost, what happend with this? Did you figure it out? If not, please let us know. Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com
mtpeak2
Sometime I find that if I have an action window open in the background, the constraints will not take. Just make sure you close all other windows.
jakerupert
Yes, I still have the problem. Guess I am missing something fundamental here. I posted the simple testproject for you to check, if it works with you. As you can see on my screenshot, the fanbone just moves along with the bone, to which it is constrained instead of lagging 50 % behind, which I would expect to happen. Any further suggestions? fanbonetest070805.prj

heyvern
You didn't embed the model and action files... so the project was empty. However... it just occurred to me... Is the fan bone a child of the "big" bone in the PWS? That could be the problem. A child bone can't have a constraint to its parent bone. If it is, move the bone up one level. Actually... the way it looks... the fan bone should be a child of the bone before it in the image and constrained to the "second' bone... does this make sense? Vernon "!" jakerupert
Hey, Thank you so much. That was the problem! The third bone was a child of the second bone, ( I didnt knew that this is not allowed ) I moved it up and Voila: it works!! See project, this time embeded!!! Thanks again, now on to reworking my character. ;>) Jake fanbonetest070805.prj

heyvern
I should have thought of it IMMEDIATELY.... You have no idea how many times I have done the exact same thing... and I should know better! As a matter of fact... I just did the same thing a few days ago with a knee fan bone... stupid bone wouldn't obey the dagnab constraint! I sat there scratching my head... wondering what the problem is... I had the knee fan as a child of the lower leg instead of the thigh... As soon as I saw your screen grab I slapped my head! Glad to help! Makes me feel good. Vernon "!" Zehr
