The lighting of the room looks great. I like the reflection on the characters costume. The only thing is the background, outside the window it looks like it was just painted there. The whole inside of the room looks great though. I'm sure you wanted us to focus on the lighting, but the finger point is really fast. It jumps. When he goes back to the standing position its nice and smooth though. overall the lighting looks beautiful.

Hey FN, thanks for checking it out! And the words too!

Appreciate it.

I think that I've just started a long trial and error journey hunting down a good look for this type of characters world....

Hope it doesn't take too long to find something that works.

Thanks

looks good.

You used Z buffered shadows right? . . . one crit is that the sun looks like its dieing kind of . . . not very round . . . but it could be interacting with the clouds and atmosphereic density and other things like that . . .

Good job though . . .

Ben

P.S. it looks like your wall with your window is floating a tad bit . . .

Thanks Ben!

As far as the floating thing... it's a problem with the Zbuffer shadows and the wall geometry being 1 sided.

I think if I make is 2 sided it will solve the problem - to be tested.

Yeah, the sky was a quick photoshop map... just to get things moving along:)

I really like it. A great comic book look....reminds me of the Fleischer Superman shorts from the 40's.

Wow, cool, thanks Dale!

Lets see if I can now animate a quick scene with it!

Hey Jason, thanks for checking it out, and the comments too.

Here's a clip I put together with the scene.

Animated it in about 20min. and probably won't do anything with it, as I just wanted to see what I could get done in the time frame.

there are a mistakes abound, some blatant - hand through objects and such...

But, was fun making it.

Take a look!

I took a look! For 20 minutes that's impressive :D He almost seems a little embarrassed as he looks to camera after his outburst. Funny. He's a great character. I didn't notice until now just how long his arms are! Obviously he has considerable strength - what are his superhero powers?

Art, I too tried to view your latest ... no luck on DSL :(

BTW ... would or could you post a top down view of the 1st one ... would like to see your setup ...

Top down view of the first one?

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean the top view of the cho.?

Let me know, I'll post it...

Excellent Mike. To me the fall looks like a jump. I would suggest just his upper body leaning forward and maybe one leg stretched backwards trying to regain balance. His hips also seem to go down just before he falls which probably makes it seem more jump like.

Ken, (edit)

I have had a few comments about the "fall/jump" impression.

I wonder if keeping the legs perfectly straight throughout the clip would fix this?

Well to be seen....

Thanks for the comments appreciate it!

Mike,

Your Bulidings sit on a clear background or layer ... was this done in PhotoShop? Also, your two cameras appear to be lined up with each other ... why?

Thanks ...

G. Wells

Yeah, I do have 2 cameras in the same spot on here....

It means nothing, I'm not really sure why it's in there...

I used photoshop for the building layer like you said.

Sorry,

got here late... it seems he should start falling before the right arm goes forward. It's a tough nut to crack, but I think it would promote the unstable balance of falling a little better. He almost seems to be yanked out.

Hey Entity, thanks for taking a look!

I'm actually not coming back to this clip.

I want to just keep making little clips like this, but not languish over the (in this case) many issues.

I want to see progress happen over different gags!
