Rigging for vechile w/shock-springs

Recommended Posts

hello...

I'd ke to rig a vehicle so when it traves down a road and hits a bump the body moves differently than the frame of the vechile..like shock and springs connect the two....would this best be rigged (lag cnstraints?) or just posed or action made of the movement?

Thanks all,

Michael

hm... maybe u could do that with the dynamic-constraint, but I would try to pose it.... u get more control with that methode...

When I rig a vehicle I usually will end-up with a lot of pose sliders like these....

STEERING Left-----Right (don't forget to spin the steering-wheel!)

DRIVERS DOOR OPEN

PASSENGER DOOR OPEN

FRONT END COMPRESS-----REAR END COMPRESS

LEFT COMPRESS-----RIGHT COMPRESS

HOOD OPEN

(etc)

The best way to get the wheels to spin right is to spin them in a pose and assign the pose a 'stride-length'...that way, in the chor you can move the car wherever you want and the wheels will track accordingly!

Happy motoring!

You could rig the car body with a bone and make a translate to/orient-like constraint to both "LAG" behind the main body motion.
