  1. 2) So it must take away the C:\ stuff from the path then because everyone is putting there stuff in SVN folder but the path to it would be different. I understand and will do as you say just wandering how it does that?

No! You can put the folder anywhere on your folder. It works from within the folder rather than the absolute path.

    Ok thanks

I downloaded SVN two files I want to relocate them to another location on my harddrive what will I have to do in AM community to make it work again? if any?

Why do you want to relocate them to another location. I don't understand what your trying to do.

I moved the folder and when I started up AM it asked for the locattion of the models and I directed it to the SVN folder so all is fine no time wasted :D . I might have to change the location for down/up loading the next time I update SVN.

The reason was I put it in the same dir. tree as all my other animations that I work on and back up at the end of the night. I have Nero setup to backup the path and nero would take 15 minutes trying to set up the SVN to be backed up and I did want to get into multy DVD backups so I moved it to it's seperate DIR.

    Thanks for the help!

  2. 1) Do you have the SVN software? Tortoise it's called. You have to download from the server folder to a selected folder on your hard drive. You need a broadband connection as it's large.

    2) You leave them in your selected folder and save to that folder. Then every so often you upload your work to the server. Everything changed in that folder is uploaded automatically.

    3) No embedding. Work from the folder.

    1) yes I have it all downloaded

    2) So it must take away the C:\ stuff from the path then because everyone is putting there stuff in SVN folder but the path to it would be different. I understand and will do as you say just wandering how it does that?

    3) OK I will

But I have already started wrong I copied the models out of SVN and loaded them into into AM from another dir. I have not done much so easier to start over again

Thanks I appreciate the help ;)

OK I feel there is going to be a steady stream of questions coming :D

I downloaded SVN two files I want to relocate them to another location on my harddrive what will I have to do in AM community to make it work again? if any?

  3. So to clarify we are not embeding objects? So exactly how should I

1)load them from SVN dir on my hardrive?

2)copy them from SVN into another dir then work from there?

3)or if we can embed then it shouldn't matter do anything I want?

  4. Ok I just got my Yeti cd today installed ver 12n then downloaded 13 alpha 5 I can get ver 12 to work but ver # 13 says it can not find mfc71.dll and to try reinstalling. I reinstalled same thing I then upgade ver12n to 12 q then install 13 alpha 5 same thing. how can I fix this?

  5. I just noticed that I assumed that ver# 13 was the 2006 CD and I would have to buy the 2005 CD to use the alpha and then be a year behind in updates in the end  I starting to confuse myself sorry. So is there any reason why I am waiting? I can't think of one? 12:30 am  hum Think I will phone in my order in the morning anyone know when these guys so up for work  What I dummy I am

Ok I updated this everything has an animation #8 is still a WIP I want to clean that up a bite but what do you guys think?

Ok you can delete the other threads to keep things simple.

  7. I notice with most 3D instructional books, that the directions are grouped together into paragraphs. Listing each step of whatever is being taught, in it's own sentence, on it's own line, rather like a recipe card. This would be more visually accessible. At least for me, that is.

but it would make the book about 5X longer which for a comprehensive A:M tome would ratchet the page count up into the 900-1000 range easy; which most publishers aren't going to do, as it will have to cost you the consumer in the 80-100 dollar range. We writers are pushed down with page limits so all the clarity and step by step with each step illustrated type tutorials wind up just cutting into the amount of the software that can be covered.

Also, generous use of illustrations, in full color, particularly when color choices are being discussed, would be appreciated. Never understood why color 3D renders are so often just in B+W.

I'd love full color as well, the only publisher I've seen do a real good job on this was New Riders, the remiander of the feild is pretty cheap. They give the author the option to have a set of 'color plates' but those are so far removed from the text that it needs to relate to that it does very little good. I opt to put the color versions of all the figures on the disc instead....

All that being said, as I am currently writing the update all this discussion on what people want out of a book has certainly been distracting ;) and helpful :).

I too look forward to whatever Georgia and her author have for us!

    -David

Why don't they do all of that and sell us I CD with a .PDF Fully color all the detail and very little printing cost. We could have the PDF open while working through tutorials.

  8. This is a quote from Martin about that he answeared another thread about this so I thought I would copy this here.

V13 will be required for this project because the file formats have changed to accomodate the Group Project software. (V13 will run on the 2005 CD until March.)

Several things need to happen before we can publicly announce the exact operation of TWO. There are a number of items that are close to maturity:

    1) New body rig, called "Squetch"

    2) New face rig, (we don't have a name for it yet)

    3) Participation contract

    4) Complete animatic

    5) Main model construction

There are also several things that need to be well defined and started by Jan 1, 2006:

    1) Voice actor recording

    2) Music

    3) Ancillary models

    4) Bookkeeping

The Animation Directors will also be organizing their efforts. This will all take until the end of the year.

We will need ver # 13 the way I understand it if we are picked to animate in TWO but the boot camps/ TAoAM and the demo reels do not require ver 13. So I plan to animate and improve tell my demo reel gets me in then a fast phone call to hash and in a matter of days I have ver # 13 and working a way and hopefully not driving my animating director crazy

  9. Last night I got this Idea and I wanted to ask before I started it. I am currently working hard at the boot camp and I have been talking with other TWO hopefulls about when and were ect. we submit our demo reels and Resume. I thought seeing alot of us might not be done boot camp for January that we could each start are own thread here and update it as we go. This would be a living application that we can update with each assignment once we are happy with it. We could also post a Resume introducing your selfs what we do as a day job ect. so we all know who will will be working with and what we have done with A.M. so far and also even how much time we think we could work on TWO per week or per month. Suggestions or questions could be asked by the Animating Directors. Once an Animators is included in TWO the threads could be deleted for clarity. This would also help others hopefulls looking at what others are submitting and we can get a better feel for what the Animating Directors are looking for.

    What do you think?

  10. Hi everyone.

I made my first test mini movie. I made it around september. Finally i posted it.

    It's called "What is that?".

It has no sound but it will do for now.

    Tell me what you think.....

Here is the link below to see it.

    "What is that?"

I couldent make a direct URL to the movie. I dont know how. sorry.

Very nice but please follow this link and post it were it takes you you are in the wrong section of the forums for showing this. But nice really nice ;)

  11. James,

You should study the Wookie (from the A:M CD and now Exercise 20 in the TAoA:M) and (Kong and Yeti from the Extras CD). They are great examples of hair materials. There are others of course...

    Keep on keepin' on!

    Rodney

Is there a model suppied? is there a link to a PDF format? I don't see a video on the website I would like to do this but my maual is 2004 but I will be getting Ver# 13 if I get accepted to TWO

  12. Another reason for having the same credits at beginning and end is wether or not the person have media player set to hold last frame or jump to the beginning frame the clip ends without an annoying jump at a the end. First impressions are very important but the last thought even subconscious maters as well. It has already been stated but the Wow factor needs improving the fuzzy ness takes alot away from the High quality animating you have done. If you are sending this into companies I suggest greating DVD set everthing to highest quality and let AM render for the next couple of days. I was just checking out Camstasio Studio 3 which is what Hash uses for the TAoAM tutorials it has a free 30 day demo trial download it get a web camera pitch your self as the demo runs I know you feel that putting sound in is cheating when it comes to animating but I think you need show you off not just the animations. I know nothing of what your future employer wants to see but do not hold anything back Wow them with Sound video Quality, Computer skills, Presentation, Animation, Voice overs, Up to date everthing in one and make it look like you spent thousands doing this. I have read how a 14 year old kid web diesigner got so much bussness designing website in is bedroom adn when the interviewer ask how companies reacted to his age and that he was working out of his bedroom he replied he never told them his age or anything else the work sold itself BUT he says you have to look Big and professional and if you have lots of cash

    look at the site

    http://www.techsmith.com/products/studio/whatsnew.asp

Look at what you can do and blow them out of the water using a 30 free day trail ;)

If you need any help just ask me I have some not alot experience in multi presentation and I would be glad to help

  13.

But hey, all just my opinion, feel free to ignore it if you like.

    -Alonso

Thanks I will NOT ignore it I appreciate it actually. Although I am still proud of what I have learned and done I do see I need allot more to learn. I knew that adding some steps and weight shifting would improve this animation but the truth is I was nervous to try to much. With the amount of experience I currently have I find that I can mesh things up so much I get myself in over my head really quickly. I hear what you are saying I agree and I will go to the next level with my next animation. Actually I cut this short I have more in the script and I have the wave files. If I am not ready for the OZ project then I will probably re-work this and finish it which will probably make this into a 1 minute + animation. It also seems too short as well other people have mentioned that it ends before it really should.

  14. tough group!

People often say they want solid Comment & Criticism...

I was referring to the unruly behavior of the characters

    ;)

They are really a super group of friends that I have been associated with for about 6 years now. They will spend hours helping you through a PC problem or giving another member there old components after an upgrade. I seen members spend hours helping other members through touch divorces and deaths in the Family. The wave files and stage props were made by two members PF_Coastie, PF_Rory. This was done as joke / present for the Squadron with the hope that this animation might draw more recruits into the Squadron.

If time permits I was thinking of a series of short animations all on a similar theme. Having my friends helping by creating wave files and props for me really adds to the experience of Animation. I have done other valenter work and I really enjoy working with other people on worth while goals that are not ruled by high presure or the almighty dollar as everything else in life seems to be ;) I put my name in for the Tin man OZ project and I hope I can get involed with that B)

  15. tough group!

    Downloading now...

So So what do you think :D I was hoping you would see this I was thinking of putting a link in the new users forum to let you know.

So So come on now what do you think :o did the long hours of helping me through TAoAM pay off or do you want the cert. back

    ;)

  16. Thanks oakchas

I know I still have alot to improve on but I am happy with my progress with AM. Now if I can only have a night without my teenage daughters channel surfing , playing music, talking about boys on the phone etc. in the same room as my computer I could get onto Boot Camp.

Then after a day of work then going through that I usually has such a head ache :o
