Just enter a thickness the book says. Did that and nothing shows up on the thickness timeline as in the book. Trying to get the hair emitter to taper the thickness over the length of the hair to a point.  What am I doing wrong (again)????  Also I must admit that I still don't know HOW to ask a question-start a topic? Could use some advice on that also. Any help appreciated.

Every frickin' year same thing. I pay for an update, got the activation code and cannot download the install exe. What am I doing wrong? Any help appreciated.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing comes up and I opened a 3 window layout and saved the layout but when I try to load it nothing happens.

Saved a 3 window layout but when I try to open it nothing happens. Then I tried again after making 3 windows and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

It's probably been there for decades but I swear I can remember a time when it wasn't there and must admit I don't know how to use it. When viewing the material in it's viewer I crank the setting from zero to 100 - no difference. I know I'm risking terrible humilitation by admitting this but just couldn't live with myself anymore til I came clean.

As always any help greatly appreciated.

When I am setting up the relationship for this head and turn it to see if constraints on the neck are working it won't return to zero (looking straight ahead) when I type in zero in the y rotation. I've set up other heads the same way and they work but this one won't. Must be missing something. What am I doing wrong???

Trying to get a Leafy type material using the hair function but can't shape like it shows in the tech manual (Sutton's Dodo bird) using the thickness timeline. Keep getting this octoganal shape instead of a smooth curve (see image). Render is set to multi pass final quality.

Any help appreciated.

Here it is! This is 10 yrs. of my life. (so THIS is why Pixar needs 300 people to make a film) Thank you robcat, fuchur & other AM forum gurus that helped me!

The FPS setting does seem to work when the sequence is brought into the Chor. as a Layer but if you select the sequence from the workspace it plays ok the first time but then if you hit the play button again it plays in hyper speed. No big deal as it seems to play well as a layer in the chor.

Have tried all the free video players I could find online and still can't find one that plays in "real time", but then used AMs ablility to read in sequences of numbered images and when you open the loaded image/sequence and hit the play button it plays great the first time but then will only play in hyper speed but it's still better than the results of all those players I tried before.

I've had terrible luck trying to get all those free video players to read in image sequences as a single clip (even with a toggle button "read in as single clip" is activated)

I know that the speed of your computer is most important but then why do all the Youtube videos play smoothly and nothing else does?

Anyway, my point is that AM has really helped me out with this and now I just bring in the sequence into AM and re-output as an AVI for use in editing.

Ok I think I figgered it out. The model was being constrained to a chair with a translate to and orient like constraint for a brief time and I think that's what messed up the applaud action when trying to load it.

But still haven't figured out why I can't Copy/Paste keyframes.

Yep. made sure all those were turned on. Would try to copy keyframe and paste it to same model at different frame-no effect. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Also tried all 3 blending modes to no effect.

I'll try to re-create the problem in a simple chor to post but never can get those to repeat the problem but if I do I'll post it.

Have tried all the keyframe filters - bone, limb and whole model - no effect. Also tried selecting the model in the chor list and all the subsequent bones with the Copy/Paste keyframe - no effect.

Thought I could just make an action with the character applauding and add it to him during a chor but no. Even tho the ONLY things moving in the action I made is his arms when I add it to him in the chor. he gets all "whacked out" - jumps to a different position and every joint in his body is twisted horribly.

Also, how do you copy a figure's pose at a given frame? Have tried Copy Keyframe/Paste Keyframe  - no effect!!!!

Shouldn't this be a simple thing to do??  Any help appreciated.

[Shrink action length]

Right clicking on an action (Actions folder) shows a "shrink length" function but does nothing or i just don't know how to use it. Any help appreciated.
